How does one block a particular website on a computer?

OK, my mum is really angry with my sister because she found out she's using Bebo when she's only 13 which my mum implicitly told her not to do and there's all the malarkey about "disobeying orders" and stuff. And now she wants me to block Bebo on her computer. JUST that website. And I just realised I have no idea how to do such a thing.

I know this should be in Hardware and Software section, but it's pretty urgent that I do it now before my mum gets angry with me too.

Wondering if anyone could help? :E
 
Install a firewall and block it through there.

Or put it on your internet explorer restricted/forbidden sites list, assuming you use that.

Or tell your mum to grow up and stop pouting.
 
Punch your sister and tell her to stop.

Works for me!

But seriously, the firewall idea works well, and going through IE works too..but can't she just delete it if she finds it?
 
Easiest way (just keep it secret from your sister):

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
Open the Hosts file with notepad

Then add in this line at the end:
209.85.165.104 www.bebo.com

I am just making up the domain name that you are blocking... I don't know if its truly www.bebo.com, but change it to whatever domain you want to block.

Now, your computer will think that www.bebo.com is pointed to 209.85.165.104, which is really www.google.com.

My router has the POWAH to do this. You should have been as cool and as rich as me when purchasing your router.

myspace clone. Every teenager (With few exceptions) are on it. I'm even on it, though I go on it once in a blue moon to check someone else's page for something or other or to just change my video.

I was gonna say that too... just make sure you make entries for both www.bebo.com and bebo.com, because I believe they're actually treated differently.
 
Most routers have a built in firewall that is very easy to block specific websites. Or move to China where they will block it for you free of charge.
