im really bored so i decided to make this thread.

took me 1:10 to reboot

yeah, about 20 sec

my old one took .... about.... 2 min

20 seconds to reboot, or just start up? That seems awfully fast for shutting down and starting up.

1:10? Either you have a really crappy hard drive or you have a ton of crap set to launch at startup. Go to run>msconfig>startup to configure your startup items (in case you don't know). Anyhoo I have a athlon 64 3000+ with a 80 gig wd caviar hd and it takes me less than 30 seconds.

yea i got aol, steam, limewire and a bunch of other programs, so ill run msconfig

Not sure...I rarely reboot and I'm not about to do so now to find out.
current uptime -> 3wks 3days 9hrs 43mins 8secs
Doesn't take too long to boot up tho from what I recall

do you use it? how does it work

Yes, sped it up by maybe 10 seconds. What it does is cache the start-up files in an easy to access place so it will load faster. Or something to that effect.

30sec to boot, 1minute to warm up before i can do anything.

Where'd you find that?

Where'd you find that?

I get that in my Local Area Connection Status, which I have running in my system tray. Not sure if you get that if you connect with a modem only tho.

And just for spills and giggles -

Connected, Duration : 6 Days 05:56:32, Speed 100Mbps, Bytes Sent : 1,955,789,331, Bytes Received : 49,371,662,828

By the way, thats my LAN speed at 100Mbps, not my ADSL speed :hmph:

P.S. About 3-4 minutes - I've no idea why, it used to be about 30 seconds? :frown:

How fast? About c.

But really, quite a while. Not defragged in ages, my hard drive is in a worse state than a 40 year-old whore's wizard sleeve :x

dunno about rebooting, but boots from cold to a useable desktop (ie no drive activity and apps can start straight away) in about 15 - 20 seconds. Mind you, I have few to none non-essential programs or services initiating on startup.

What is the matter with these anyway?

If I try to do anything without warming up, it crashs. :frown:

How are we defining "warming up" here, I simply mean it takes 30 seconds to get into windows then I have to wait for a minute for it to stop going crazy loading all kinds of shit :P. I can connect to the internet during that stage but once I got a memory dump when I tried to do it :O

Thats my definition of warming up, and that's pretty much the same as me. Gives me a moment to get comfortable anyway.

That happened to my 486, when it couldn't handle a 32mb Ram Upgrade, but it was more like 5 mins, enough time for me to grab a snack.

However my latest one takes rougthly 10-20 seconds, the same with most people
