for example, you know that part of the E3 2004 vid with the crane, and how good old gordan fires a roket at the poor combine soldier on it? well you know when that poor soldier goes flying away will he kill or do any damage to anyone he lands on?

cause that would be hilirous.

also will you be able to drop wepons when you out of ammo and then use the physics gun to fire them at peeps. cause that would be rather amusing too :D

Then after you use Force push on the guy in front and take out the others, you use force grip and choke the last guy while bangin him against a wall !!

Wrong game, but that could be kinda cool.

lol i just always wondered while playing far cry, if i could be killed by the guys i shot out of the choppers, unfortunatly none hit me so i couldn't tell :(

According to forum member merc, the physics are awesome fun and definitely the best part of the game.
Also, IIRC:
Yes, the flying combine will injure people he hits.
And yes, you can launch guns at people. I'm not sure if you can drop empty guns anymore though.

wooo hooo, fear my flying combine soldiers!!
I know that could be a new multi player feature, death match with only pumped up physic guns and combine soldiers to lob at each other!!!

and people could make a mod where you fire your favriote celebraties at each other!! :cheese:

The physics will be all the fun in the world.

Yeah i can already tell that many hours of my life will be wasted away goofing off with the manipulator. oh man it's gonna be so fun.

and as far as i can tell, if it's moving fast enough, it'll do damage...

Don't get too hyped up. Sure, people would kill to (legitimatly) play HL2 in a room with scientists, boxes, chunks of metal, the pachinko machine (you know the one im talking about). Myself included. The only problem is, despite 'each event being unique', you do get tired of killing the sci with a combine body for the 100th time.

Basically, it'll be a blast at first, but eventually, such physic will become an afterthought.

Why dont you mess around with real world physics, pick up a big box and throw it around. just as much fun tbh :D

hm will it be possible to fire enemies (like combines or aliens, dead or alife) with the the physik-gun around ? would be very cool ,i imagine struggeling combines trying to free themselfs out of . . . umm nothing :D !

I know you can do dead bodies, and I'm pretty sure you can't do living. But I'm not certain about the live ones. Would be cool though

pachinko is the game with all the little prongs sticking out of a wall, and a ball is dropped into it. a picture of the barrel pachinko he was talking about is attached...

Well yeah, but it's so much funner with a manipulator. And i seem to have misplaced mine, so i guess i'll have to just play around with a virtual one until i can find it...

Bodies, like the one in the techdemo, have to be tagged to be manipulatable. There's something in the Info thread about it. I don't think you can manipulate dead bodies/bodies that haven't been tagged by the level designer, or you couldn't when that eMail in question arrived. Someone should ask that merc fellow.

I'm really waiting for the physics, they are so much better than in MP2 or FC.

From watching the videos and reading Gabe's (and the others') emails, I've deduced that among their various tweaks and tricks, the huge reason that their ragdoll physics are wonderful, is because they employ friction. No more bodies just sliding and flopping...

That's always what sort of irked me in the UT2K games. You could be on sand or a grassy hill, but the bodies would slide around as if on butter.

Weight limit on the manipulator eh? Guess we need to mount a bigger one to a motorized vehicle. Think about it. You could pick up a hige piece of metal and use the truck as a plow, or could pick up people and use them as a plow. Sounds like a heck of alotta fun.

Which is cool for about 2 min unless you're not sober... :bounce: :bounce:

the good thing about hl2 is that you will have much more opportunities (spelling?) to use the physics than other games like FarCry.
but physics is really overrated.

i'm gonna fill a bunch of barrels full of water and make music by hitting them with my crowbar.

then i'm gonna strangle a couple combine *assuming they breath out of their mouth* with telephone wires

I'm gonna build a house.. OUT OF EXPLODABLE BOXES

and finally

I'm gonna find out how many pop cans it takes to down a strider.
