how hl2 runs on my pc...

Hello,

ive been playing hl2 and when playing with all the high settings on i get an excellent framerate but it stutters a lot, it looks like it reads the hard drive very often...but when i put it on the default settings steam gave me i get a similar framerate but with almost no hiccups...

also i think the loading times are very long, from 15 to 30 secs...

heres my system

ahtlon 2800
512mb pc 2700 ram
9800 pro
seagate barracuda 40gb hd
sound blaster audigy 2zs
win xp pro SP2
latest cat drivers from omega...i think 4.11 or something

what can i do to avoid those hiccups on high settings? what would i need to upgrade

Its not a hardware issue btw so don't go wasting money, its something with the engine that valve needs to fix.
