How ho get the cheat to work?

Right, I got this from the forum:

In order to enter the following cheats you will have to activate the console. Right click on your Half-Life 2 shortcut and then go to properties. Under target, type: "C:\Installed Directory\hl2.exe -console".

The thing is, in my Target box, its:

"C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 220

I assume the game runs through Steam as there isn't a hl2.exe file in the Steam folder. So how do I get the console to work?

Go into the game options menu then keybord press advanced and the tick enable console. Start the game and press the tilda key (next to "1") the console will drop down type in sv_cheats then return. You can then type in what cheat you want to use.

Thanks, got the console working.
But the cheats don't work.
This is what I got when I tried it:

] sv_cheats
"sv_cheats" = "0"
notify replicated
- Allow cheats on server
] god


Any ideas why its not working?

if u need to cheat to play the game, why bother playing at all?

inside of the console type sv_cheats 1
press ENTER
now you should be able to issue the god cheat. Oh, by the way, when you issue the god cheat, you will not a response, it'll just put god in the list of last commands used.

I'm only using it to get past a difficult section, not for the whole game...

I think the command is 'god mode', and you should get 'god mode on'/'god mode' off when you use it.

impluse commands don't echo though
