Hi, I play css and i dont understand y i get such crappy fps.
Comp:
Amd althon 2800+
1024MB RAM
Nvidia Xfx6800
Xp Pro

OK, theres my comp and my fps is 40 to max at gun fights. Now The xfx6800 isnt in my comp right now, my 5900Ultra is and i get 25-30 fps on my old 1, but even when i had the xfx6800 in my comp i still got 30 fps in gun fights and i really dont understand y, cuz i see ppl with 1.9 with an 5700 and they get 35 constant. Soon i will have the 6800 in my comp but i still get horrible fps with both vid cards. Im thinking of reinstalling steam or reconfigureing my comp or something cuz this is crazy. CAn anyone help me?

try deleting all of ur old video driver files then reinistall

Well what visual settings are you running it at? Even then it should be alot better than that. If deleting old drivers doesnt work reformat.

I get 50+ average with a 9800 pro. I run at 1024x768 with all graphics low. I think it's best if you reinstall drivers (clean install is best) like the others have said. More FPS = Less recoil, believe it or not.

And you can run faster? :p

No it's a myth, an urban legend just like the one that claims the lower the resolution the more headshots you get.

McLaren there are some good utilities out there that will uninstall older nvidia drivers, sometimes the older drivers do not get completely removed when you update to a newer card, there are some registry keys that get left behind that could affect your performance, my machine doesn't differ much from your specs and my framerate is on average in the 60's. I think the card is actually handicapped a bit by your CPU, I have a few buddies that get roughly another 20 fps more than me with the newer Athlon-FX processors. Might be time to upgrade
