How long does Steam 1.0 take to install?

So far the "Create Account" portion of the Steam installation is taking over an hour. Right now its stuck on Preloading some files or something. I was wondering if this was normal or not.

I dunno.. but I'm starting to have this theory that the games not launching/finishing updating is the same problem as the Create Account thing.. it's just not doing anything. It may SEEM as if Steam is updating or what not.. but it's actually not.. ??? Atleast I can't come up with anything better.
*edit* Or it's just workin super-duper-mega-puffy-sloow.

I think it's hanging because there's a shed-load of people all downloading of steam's servers at once. They just can't take it!

well just restart the installation, perhaps it works

I restarted the computer and it seems to be working now, except I can't play any games...
