How much fun would this be in the HL2 Engine?

Sorry for the link, but it is an executable...

Basically, what it is a program which allows you to control the speed of a truck, the placement of up to 2 ramps, and the placement of a poor little man... The truck drives into a wall, and the person gets slammed around... You try to see how much damage you can do to the guy...

Its perfect for the HL2 Engine b/c it incorporates physics on the guy & truck.

Comments?

D'you think you can bail out of some of the vehicles as you can in Vice City? It's always fun to bail and leave the car speeding into a small group of people. Even better with Havok...

exept... in vice city you dont die... in more realistic games you would be a pile of gibs before you even noticed that you had exited the car

whats the best physics you guys have witnessed so far in previous games?

I would say Postal2, for you could smash everything around, kick things around and play 1person tennis with peoples heads using a shovel...ah the fun

What the hell could you smash in postal 2? Even the wooden chairs were rocket launcher proof. Doors were too, so were the cars, tables, tvs, fridges, signs, and everything else in the game. The only thing you could move was the people's heads and the dog turds, you must not have played many other games if you think that's the best example of physics interaction. I think devastation and trespasser beat postal 2 there.. I hear halo is pretty good at that too. Postal 2 may have superior rag doll effects than the other games, I can't remember off the top of my head though.

to bad devastation was ASS!

postal 2 had shitty physics....but FYI you could blow up cars.

I know that BF1942 sometimes has messed up physics: Sometimes you can die walking down stairs...

Sometimes you can die walking down stairs...
PlanetSide! The game with the worst fall physics ever. Your hp gets knocked down to 2 if you go down ONE flight of stairs.

Hey that Truck thing is kinda funny, but the Stairs thing is even nicer. I managed to get the truck stuck with it's rear axis between the two ramps, and the puppet was underneath the front axis. The truck kept on moving and sliding for an age, was so cool :) Big score, but don't remember (can't be arsed to go look)

Stair Dismount = hours of fun...downloading the truck one now. :)

Would be fun for the first few times, I guess.

Yes, the stair one is great.

Haha, I couldn't much this game up as much as Stair Dismount, but I did manage to get the person's head stuck inside the wall after he was rammed by the truck, got me a score of over 98 000 I was so annoyed, so close to the big 100k

it would be fun for about 5 minutes, then id get bored

people now days must have the attentions spans of a gnat, me and my dad played the truck one for hours, trying to beat each other, coming up with new and great ways to cause as much damage as we possibly good to the poor polygonal man

best physics engine i've seen... Metal Gear Solid 2! What else?

Yeah, while we're on the topic, what games does everyone think made the best use of physics?

ut2k3 and u2 had a pretty good engine, but they WASTED IT. They could have had vehicles, HL2 style interaction with that engine, but all they implemented was ragdoll stuff.

A personal favourite of mine was tresspasser. A lot of people hated it, but I thought it was great. Even the dinos running around were still operating within the physics engine.

I'm sure there have been other games that made good use of physics, but none spring to mind.

It's interesting that physics has only more recently been a big deal...
Well, I think it's interesting.
Oh, piss off.

People like you are the kind of people game developers just want to smack really hard in the head. Having to please spoiled kids. Its very sad that you can't enjoy things for long.

Hmmm... :afro:Halflife2 is the best physical engine nowa dayz (I think so) and "This is bad, that is bad..." is not right, becoz if it is best, what can be better? Of course you can sleep until 2015 year, when the physics will be like real... But if you don't, play in games that is released and look for good things in it, not bad (espec. in best games)
