Im thinking of upgrading my current videocard(specs in sig) to a dx9 compatible one and Im wondering is it worth shelling out the money for a good one or should i just wait?

My price range is about $250....suggestions?

The x800GTO was a good $190 card. It does me fine.

On Battlefield 2 with 2 gig of ram I can play with most high rest medium quality on 1024x768 with no frameloss.

CSS everything MAXED with HDR on at 30+ fps

How do you have an AMD64 3300+ ? Is that the sempron 64+ ? As there is no such thing in the athlon 64 range !!! Not nit-picking, just wondering !

You would benefit quite a lot from a new card by the looks of it. The X800GTO, or the X800XL, Nvidia 6800GS, or even a 6600GT, would all be a good improvement.

Another worthwhile upgrade would be 1Gb of ddr400 ram, would also make a difference.

I'd put in some extra RAM and check out the X1600XT.

nooo, early signs suggest that the X1600XT isn't all that impressive, unless of course you've heard otherwise ?

/me goes to find more out about X1600XT

edit: Well it seems that the X1600XT is a match for the 6600GT performance wise, but better in the image quality department. Early prices were alongside the 6800GS though, so wasn't that great value for money, but apparently prices have been lowered to 6600GT prices, which would make it a good card for the money. Although a 6800GS, X800XL would still be quicker, but it's all down to the budget that you are working on.

I would recommend shelling out just that bit more to get a 7800 gt

they're EXTREME

That should be quite an improvement from the Geforce 4, not only in performance, but in the eye candy department as well. I'd still reccomend a Gb of ram though as well.

:)

lol not quite, the ti4200 is only DX level 8 max, u may well have DX9 installed but ur GFX wont be benefiting from it.
