Well im buying a video card most likly a 128 or 256meg X800 in august, and well i know it reqiures a 480watt power supply. Im just wondering how do you check how many watts your power supply will support etc.. Cuz i dont wanna buy it then figure out i dont have the power supply to support it. I probably have a 380.... I always get the bad luck..

I have a
2ghz Athlon Xp
512 Megs of Ram

I had a 64meg Geforce 4 Mx 420 PCI
(Sux ass, but i could actually run cs and UT2004 good nuf, but my modem fried and casued it to overheat so now it dont work :(, so now im on a 32meg Prosavage DDR... Barley runs Cs on 1152x864)

Really?
Well ima get that then, if i can..

With your system, I would recommend the 9800 Pro as the X800 Pro will be severly bottlenecked by your processor. You can even use some of the extra money you save to buy some extra RAM.

Here is some benchmarks with CPU scaling and the X800 Pro.

Not a clue.

Thx blabla, ill probably buy doom 3(Considering you get a free hl2 when it comes out when u buy a radeon 9800), or save up for a flat panal monitor or somtin...
I know ram gives a big increase in games (For instance..i had 256 megs of ram... could play UT2004 on low\medium settings.. 512 made it all highest).

Thx for all your help.

you only get HL2 with the 9600xt and the 9800 xt ...that is if you can find anymore, most 3rd party card vendors dropped the coupon last year

oh and if your power supply came with your pc chances are it's probably in the 300 watt range. You should get a quality PSU like Enermax or Thermaltake

We're replacing Antec with Thermaltake now? hehe
jk

Antec and Fortron probably one of the best PSU units out there.

Usually you can tell the quality of a PSU buy its weight.
