It's not LCD, by the way, it's a flat screen from around when they first started getting popular. Once you get a smudge on these things you have to scrub like your life depended on it to get part of that smudge off.. Then when we first got it I made the mistake of cleaning it with a wet towel.. I haven't tried to clean it since, but the smudges are becoming more and more annoying (it's also getting more and more smudges..), so what's the best way to clean it?

so if its not a lcd then its a flatscreen crt lol....

windex or any window cleaner should work fine. only other sure safe way is to buy your self a bottle of a cleaning agent for monitors at the store.

How did you get smudge on the screen? U sure its a smudge? what type of smudge? safe smudge or there are things swimming in it? :upstare:

Get a paper towel and a Windex. You can clean CRT with Windex its LCD you must worry.

If it's a LCD get one of those lens cleaning cloth, mist of Windex and rub the screen with lens cleaning cloth as gently as you possibly can.\

Good Luck.

Are you MAD?! You can't clean a LCD monitor with Windex!! Oh well, reckon the poor guy will find out soon enough. If he hasn't already that is.

Use any sort of Isoprophenol solution. You can also make some yourself using 1 part water and 1 part isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. This solution will work on glass surfaces and LCDs. It's used primarily as eyeglass cleaner because it doesn't degrade the anti-glare coating. Make sure you use a soft cotton or similar cloth.

you missed the first part of my post....

Wait, what's wrong with cleaning an LCD with windex? I do it all the time.

I forgot to add in my previous post that you cannot make a habit cleaning LCD with Windex but if u must a little tiny mist is enough but cloth has to be as soft as butter.

I clean my 20" TFT monitor with windex, it works fine. I'm not going to clean my 40" HTTV with it though.
