I read all of the main sectons of Source SDK. I am trying to figure out how to properly connect 2 rooms. Here is what I tried:

Made box 1.
Hollowed box 1.
Made box 2.
Hollowed box 2.
Moved box 1 and box 2 so that their edges lined up.
Made a carving object, the size of the hollow I want to carve.
Carved.

It came out right. My problem is there are some overlap that is causing flickering.

Please see the diagram.

go in and adjust the gemetry so it doesn't over lap itself, but you probably knew that. I'm not sure what you are asking for.

geometry

What geometry do I adjust? The vertexes?

Don't do any hollowing, instead just make everything out of boxes. Walls, floors, everything. Make sure the inside of your environment is sealed, and you're good to go!

create solids

Make everything out of solids?

You mean I just draw a cube and press enter. And do that for everything? I dont need to hollow or anything at all?

Try to avoid carving, veteran mappers usually stay away from it because it can cause massive problems if you mess up at all.

What Will is saying is that you should make everything out of solids/rectangles. One flat rectangle for the floor, tall thin ones for walls, and three for a wall if it has a door in it.

No hollowing, etc. I only hollow for the skybox.
