Of course, and you're obviously GoTTi...?
I came here after you guys banned me, now i post at both, just quite a bit more here.

Its ironic, you'll notice more active pot threads on these forums than at TU...

u got banned there???i dont remember u...why did u get banned?

How did you manage to piss of stoners ikerous? they are the most docile people on earth.

o u were the one who was posting that code to stop threads from showing werent u?

Lol, ::looks around:: Thats not all that important now is it...

And this site would be better if it had TU's emoticons...

Lol, it was only one thread i stopped from showing.. and it was in the fight room, and it was my own thread, so it wasnt really breakin the rules

haha sup dude been a while since i talked to you huh...i just im'd u actually to figure out who u were...

i dont remember what thread it was, it was on more then 1 though or i wouldnt have banned ya ;p

what do u mean if it had emoticons? they are there...

Lol, yea, i was also posting other random scripts in some replies XD

It looks like the method involves re-encoding all the music, a process which always results in the degridation of audio quality.

Just a reminder.. its a 4 point warning if you post a link to one of those bloody referral "free ipods" things.

youch! :P
( put that in the forum rules tbh cos i couldnt see it there when i read it )

tho i was half asleep
cos otherwsie you cant justify warning someone who didnt know!

As soon as you do it you invalidate your warrantee, count me out.

This is dumb. I thought it would be obvious that if your mp3s are a smaller filesize then you'll be able to fit more on. All the iPod is, is a portable hard drive.

And the 10,000 songs is just an approximation using average file sizes. ZzzzZzzzZZzz.

How the hell does it invalidate your warranty? :|

All you're doing is changing the filetype of the song so that the song keeps the same quality, yet has half the filesize. It doesn't alter the hardware or the software of the iPod whatsoever.

Infact, you don't even need any third party software, it's an option in iTunes.

Sorry I read it wrong, it said it does NOT invalidate your warranty.

This is innacurate. Nyquist's Theorem dictates that, when resampling digital audio, you need to use at least twice the bitrate of the source in order to not lose audio quality. Any other form of re-encoding will lose audio quality.

The article also states that "128kbps is accepted as CD quality". Any audiophile can tell you 128kbps mp3s sound like shit. As far as I'm concerned, even 160kbps is too low. When I got my portable MP3 player, I was rather dissapointed with all the 128kpbs rips I had made years before. I have since reaquired my entire music collection (about 50 gigs) aiming for at least 192kbps files.

This guy clearly does not know digital audio.

Nyquist refers to sample rate, not bitrate. Bitrate is more relevant to compressed digital audio. CD quality Wav files have 1411kbps bitrate. Mp3s at max quality have, say 320Kbps. I find it difficult to tell the difference between specific bitrates and CD audio, so the quality factor is mainly the algorithm used to compress the audio. I have seen some really in-depth comparison between digital audio formats by graphing the accuracy between the compressed version and uncompressed, and I'd like to see someone do a similar thing for the format in the linked site.

Riiight, you're converting compressed music (with an algorithm that's supposed to be used on uncompressed files) to half the bitrate and it won't make any difference in audio quality? Yeah right. Maybe if you use shitty headphones, turn the volume down and dance the sirtaki while listening. You could of course listen to normal quality files and load new music onto it after a week instead.

The method I am about to explain step by step in no way will do any of the following..
• Reducing the quality of the mp3 tracks so more can be accommodated thus worsening your listening experience.

I challenge anyone who says that they can tell the difference between an MP3 at 128kbps and an AAC file encoded at 64kbps.

6chars

WySiWyG, why did you just quote two statements that essentially say the same thing?

im bout to do alot of songs, i did some songs and i didnt notice a diff, we'll see...

yep
Agreed.

And a side note. Going from uncompressed (wav) files to ACC sounds better when using a low bitrate than MP3 (<160). But using higher bitrates starting around 192 and above, MP3 sounds better generally.

Most of my MP3s are at least 224 btw.
