Why is the 'maps' sub-folder in my CS:S folder empty? Shouldn´t it contain all the available maps?
When I download new custom made maps, ist this the folder i should place the .bsp-files?
Let´s take de_rats as an example. I downloaded the final version of the map and placed all the folders included in the archive into the CS:S subfolders mentioned in the readme-file included in the 'rats' archive.
No go. Steam tried to auto-download the missing content by itself when I tried to join a game running the de_rats map.
I figured I had done something wrong and tried a different approach. I instead placed all the different files included in the de_rats archive (ex. 'water_sink.vmt') one by one into the sub-folders in my Counter-Strike: Source folder ('maps' and 'materials\temp').
Again Steam didn´t (apparently) recognize the new content and it again tried to download something (presumeably the map-content) when I tried to join a de_rats game.
I´m probably missing something really elementary, but could someone give me some general advice on how to add custom content to Counter-Strike: Source?
Thanks.
