I wonder how to make realistic daylight. In real life during the day the sun is the only (at least major) source of light outdoors. So if I want to make a map that takes place during a sunny day, do I have to put a very bright light entity in one place of the sky to give light to the whole map and it will look like the sun?

light_environment.

And use an env_sun for the sun.

Use the light_environment entity. Click on the lightbulb on your toolbar, place the little green box towards the top of your skybox, scroll down to light_environment in the drop-down box in the smaller menu titled "objects" (make sure that "Categories" is set to "Entities"), and then press enter in one of the 2-D windows. This will create an entity that will act as the sun in your map. You can then select the entity and press alt+enter to play around with the color values and intensity.

Good luck.
