How To Play .dem Files?

Hey can anyone tell me how to play .dem files. I have some of people doing nifty stuff in hl but I dont know how to play them. Do I need to download a program or something? Can anyone tell me how to do this? Thanks

u play them in hl2 by typing in the console like play demo or somethin and idk where u put the dem.

Extract .dem file into your hl2 directory adn start the game and drop down the console and type (without quotes) "timedemo (name of file)" That will run the timedemo you wish.

P.S. dont add .dem at the end of the file name, just type the file name e.g "timedemo canal_17"

dont forget to enable the console, in the game goto options/keyboard/advanced, check "enable developer console". it says its the tilde key (~) but that doesnt work or me, instead its the ` key (left of the number 1 key), guess its to do with keyboard localisation or something

i tried to play cs .dem files but it doesn work...
this is what i got

timedemo <demoname>: gets demo speeds
] timedemo aao02_vs_euro01_final_1-1
Playing demo from aao02_vs_euro01_final_1-1.dem.
ERROR: couldn't open.

does the console for cs and cscz play the corresponding .dem files?
i tried to console in cs and console in cscz to play .dem files but some how it just doesn work
someone help me?

try this [HL]mods

go to your mod [game]
in console
type
record demoname ....to make .dem..in game
EX. record myshit

then stop to stop ...the dem will be where it needs to be

to play it type
playdemo myshit
