How to restore saved games?

I need to restore a copy of my saved games in HL2. Is this simply a matter of replacing valve\steam\steamapps\"acct name"\half-life2\ hl2\save with my back up save folder or are there any other files involved. Thanks for taking the time to answer such a basic question as I'm new to the half life universe but am hugely grooving on this great game.

I just pull all the save files out and put them back with no problems so it's probably okay to do that.

let me ask this, is there any way in the config to take the limit off of the number of saves (w/o hitting esc and clikcing on save game)? i know that the quicksaves don't override themselves (because the load menu show 2 of them), but i only have like a couple quicksaves and a couple autosaves.
