How well will XP run on this?

"no hard drive or caddy no battery (HAS NO CDROM OR FLOPPY) ac adapter was used to power up only. see pictuere for detail parts ac power supply not included"

you'll have to get a fair few parts yourself to install anything on it...

I've seen winxp on a 500mhz desktop and once installed on an incredibly old laptop, but i dont know the lappy's specs. I'd go for win2k1... not an awful lot of difference anyway, except the windows themes tend to take up way too much ram in xp.

Not well only 400mhz, I would go with 98se. The ram should also be around 256.

Maybe 98se, but prob not XP.

I have a hard drive and ac adapter. All I need to buy is a CD rom. I'm going to try it out. If it's too slow I'm going to put 2000 on it.

xp should be fine, my friend ran it on his old laptop, i cant remember the specs on it though, and if it runs bad you can always change it

I have an old 400 mhz p2 with 384mb of ram and xp runs sluggish. Don't get your hopes up too high.

I put xp on a 350 mhz, AMD... : p

Seemed fine...

Edit: meets min requirments..
I think its something like 96 meg ram.. or something..

Well I'm writing this on a 350MHz Pentium 2 with 128MB of RAM, and I'm using XP (not my PC, fixing it for a friend). At first you'll be amazed at how well it runs on such old hardware, but it becomes sluggish after very little use. It just gets slower and slower. It's not impossible, but it's not at all optimal.

Hi, I just bought this off of ebay for an IM/Surfing machine. How well do you think it will run XP, or would you reccommend staying with 98 or 2k?

Thanks!
Do you actually need Win XP for anything? With only 128 MB of RAM (some likely reserved for the video adapter), that thing will be a headache if you put XP on it, especially considering that paging on a laptop harddrive is not exactly fast.

To the best of my knowledge, Gaim and Opera work perfectly well on Win 98. ;)

i have had XP on a AMD k6 450mhz 192mb sdram and its incredibly slow and frustrating to use, starting up the thing took 5 mins, luckily i was only testing an xp disc i put together so i didn't have to use it for long. I would go with 98se or 2000, but when you start putting on services packs with win2000, its only gonna make it slower, so I would personally go with 98. It has all teh functionallity you will need for browsing and using messengers.

Meh... I think its fine, if all you wanna doin is IM on it. But other than that, it sucks. I would recommend doing anything other than IMing on it...

I'll go with either windowns 98 or 2000, I'll try both a decide which runs the best.

How well do you the Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 will run? It has 4 megs of video ram.
