How well do you think my computer will run HL2....I have 256mb RAM, Geforce4 MX 420 :| 64mb video card with DirectX9. Its 2.53 ghz and I have a broadband connection. My comp i sis a dell dimension 4500.....Also....I was thinking about upgrading my RAM but only like 128mb..(also, what does ram effect when playing a game?) plz tell me what you think..I want to know how well HL2 will run.

If you read the stick, you'd see that your machine is a low end, and would run ok with low to medium res/detail graphics.

you need atleast 256 most probably. 512 will set you up for a good gaming experience.

yeh get a better vid card, either 9600xt 256 or 9800pro (which can be modded into xt)

You should be able to run HL2 OK.
You won't be able to turn up the detail though.
The CPU will handle the physics easy but the memory is really lacking so it may lag in larger scenes.

512mb is considered a min for comfortable gaming.

A nice cheap upgrade would be if you could find a GF4 4200 128MB card. It runs DX8 but it would run games with a much higher Frame Rate, resolution and in a lot more detail than your current DX7 card.
