This man is crazy. The Constitution is the basis of what freedom we have left in this country. Huckabee wants to force his religion on everyone, regardless of what our forefathers thought. He needs to be reminded of what is written on the Constitution:

First Amendment - Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...

Huckabee: said:
I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution but I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view.

Huckabee:

"be like fundamentalist middle east that we abhor but it's ok cuz it's jesus not mu-hammid"

If somebody like Huckabee gets elected, and I am not already out of this state/country... I am going to seek citizenship for another country(ideally Canada since I like Canada), and walk there if I have to. I'll ****ing walk there if I can't get a ride to get out of this country as fast as I can.

I'll drive you because I don't think I'll be able to put up with it either.

I'm with you on that. If he gets elected, why should I stand up for this country when no one else seems to care? My location has said the same thing since I first joined here, and it may actually become a reality. I went to Ottawa for the first time last year, and it's a beautiful city. Everyone there is nice and it just seems like a safe place to walk around. Much better than cities here.

well at least you wont have to walk back when you're inevitably deported :E

You could request asylum in sweden on grounds of religious opression?

It'd be easier to try and make friends with someone living there and try and get them to sponsor moving there. I think that's how it works, perhaps your could expand on it for me?

If that lunatic gets elected, someone should act like Lee Harvey...
Raziaar, come to Czech Republic, at least our president is an atheist.

There's no way this guy could get elected.

...Right?

D:

There's no telling at this point. A large percentage of US citizens are religious and will probably end up voting for him for that reason alone (just like women are voting for Hillary because she is also a woman). The sad thing is, he's still far more likely to get elected than an atheist would. This country is full of brain-dead sheep.

A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.
-Thomas Jefferson

Tough shit but it's the way things work.

I don't know much about the Czech Republic :(

Also... to Gormand above.

I think it'd be a great idea if the population was so split as to be nearly 50/50, that we have special rules in place that allows two candidates to be elected into office as co presidents. Each with equal power, and they sort of work together to balance each other out.

Of course that might cause way more problems than it'd solve.

Yea, cause the 70% Christians would just elect 2 religious leaders then. (10% nonchristian religious).

The 20% minority of nonreligious people could never win anything.

sorry, the system works to serve the majority. it's kind of why America has always had minority problems, but that's just the way it's been since, like, 1776.

the way most figure is your going to have people yell at you no matter who gets in, so you might as well get the guy who will create less yelling.

you would end up the same way the south did. you see, in order to win a revolution, you need a little something called majority support. it's only the first unwritten rule of all revolutions.

There aren't enough religious people to vote for two religious presidents. If the religious people spread their votes amongst two candidates(which wouldn't happen likely), then the people voting more reasonably would not have their votes divided so much, and their candidate would win.

80% of the nation is religious. either way you cut the cake, you're not getting a minority leader in. besides, that's called minority rule, one of the very things America was founded to be against. If you gave every minority a leader to put into power you'd end up with a never ending bickering ruling party and a disunited states. "1984" is a good example of what minority rule does.

well considering the majority of Americans are uneducated that doesn't matter jack shit,Id rather die, then see it come that far while I'm alive.

Seeing as every committed revolutionary has done that when they lose majority support, I can't comment on much different happening to you.

And the US population is pretty smart enough to see bull when they see it. Notice the president's support? Trust me, when the South abandons you, your in deep shit.

It doesn't matter if 80% of the nation is religious. 80% of the nation wouldn't elect somebody based purely upon their religious ideologies. That's been proven.

if the majority if Americans are smart...

BUSH WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ELECTED...TWICE!!!!!!

It wasn't until after the second election that his numbers took the elevator down. Back then, you didn't have youtube or google having such an effect on us. The Internet has caused his numbers to fall.

If it were an open atheist running, American's stereotypical behavior would destroy him. the 20% ultra right would abandon him on the spot, the 30% other republcans would abandon him. A few dems would also(seeing as they are attempting to use religion to get voted too) and then the remaining 20% of supporters wouldn't have a chance.

so 50% of Americans are not very bright so yeah thats way to much, all though I'm sure most of them that voted for him are just ignorant...not the same as dumb but close ~_^

I'm American btw,I'm just trying to be realistic

Most Americans hate him today. As I said, the spread of the internet has crushed his numbers.

I voted for Bush. I used to be a Bush supporter. Not everybody who voted for bush are just mindless idiots. I take offense at that.

It took me time, but I came to see the mistake it was to vote for Bush. His second Presidency years have been superbly critical to me reexamining my views. That's where most of the criticism I feel he deserves has taken place as far as events happening and his failure to act like a mature and responsible president.

The Iraq war was not very far in and it wasn't *as* obvious that the war has become a total farce.

It's just a pity that my family is still generally supportive of them. It boggles my mind.

ok point taken I was just really upset when I read the thread title
no the majority of Bush supporters aren't dumb

sorry Raz

/hug

Raz, does your family watch youtube or the read the news on the internet? Just wondering because the few Bush supporters I know have never ventured into the wild wild web. It's a pattern.actually, and it proves my point I think.

They are relatively computer illiterate. I think they just sort of blindly follow him, even in spite of my criticisms I raise occasionally. It perplexes me.

they have yet to see the video proof.

my family was the same, until I showed them some youtube videos about Bush. Now everyone hated him in my house. lol.

Bush supporters dont know bout them newfangled comptutin machines.

Also, Raziaar, a bunch of us are already planning to move in with Stigmata once the shit hits the fan here. You should join us. (just dont tell stigmata about our plan)

I'm so up for that.

Yea that article about sums it up.

If an atheist were running and had the best values for the American public going, then sure, I'd vote for him. but the rest of America is not the same in it's voice.

What can I tell you, most people are pissed because they equate atheist leader with pro-secularism. Wrong yes, but, by the way, is highly unliked by the public, but highly liked by the government. They banned a Christmas party in a library in my neighborhood for example. Why? WTF do I know, maybe that's why most people hat their government these days in America.

anyway. As I said, if an FDR type were an atheist and running, I'd vote him.

As a UK citizen, I have a lot of respect for your countries forefathers, but by God your country has been going down hill since then.

If you want move here, we could be drinking buddies

btw, better do it quick before the inevitable US closed borders policy :D
