On the Half Life saga Story Guide Website, they say:

G-Man pulls Gordon out of the slow-time warp for his assignment. Once Gordon is discovered, Wallace Breen makes his capture or death a top priority for Combine Overwatch officers.

Gordon continues to slip out of the Combine's grip and at Nova Prospekt, lands a huge blow against the Combine. This sparks a massive revolution among citizens, who begin a much larger rebellion than before.

What is the Huge Blow? I cant remember anything huge happening in N.P. (it was a while since I played however)

Cheers in Advance :)

As you go through the portal at the end of Nova Prospekt, the teleporter explodes and takes a good bit with it. This takes out the Combine's only working local teleporter and destroys their transhuman production facility.

BTW, the Saga Story Guide is a fan site, and not the official word of Valve. Some of what is on there is speculation and not actual Half-Life canon.

Gordon Freeman also killed a lot of combine troops getting there so he put some sort of dent in their capabilities

thanks alot guys!

can you recommend a better site or an official storyline site?

thanks again

Gordon blows Nova Prospekt up when he and Alyx go through the teleporter.

There's no real official storyline site. If you look through old threads here you'll find hundreds of pages of speculation. A lot of the backstory is unknown and people constantly debate the motives of the gman and the combine and the whole bloody story.

Personally this sites wiki is the most reliable source of information about Half-Life, save say actual information from Valve themselves.

Basically, when Gordon and Alyx go through the teleporter in NP it blows up and take a massive chunk of NP with it, and a load of soldiers.
It sparks the rebellion because, nobody has ever done anyhting like this to the combine before, and its a big inspiration to all the rebels who, so far, havnt really done much

the grdoaann freehman killed like zilllions of combine dudes, not to mention tanks, chopter copters, the turrets, and oh yeahhealsoblewupthewholebuilding.

".....Blah blah blah, Mr. Freeman" - Gman

Aside from all that stuff that was mentioned, our image of Kleiner was as well shattered when he appeared with a shotgun moments later.

Awesomest. Scientist. EVER.

I hate new members. Sorry, I just noticed the influx of them since Christmas.

What about Gordon Freeman? He has more weapons, better skill with them, and has survived a lot more in his short stay in City 17 than Kleiner has his whole lifetime, aside from the Black Mesa Incident. But then again, who was the one that survived the testing and made it from one end of the BMRF to the other? I rest my case.

kleiner is just a mega nerd. he's a gordon freeman wannabe. maybe 20 yrs back, instead of poking his shotgun around, he'd be bustin doors with crowbars and exploring ventilation ducts

Yes, but the scientists in HL1 hardly DID anything at all.

They did a few things, mind you, but it was mostly dying. Speaking of which, the scientist you find hidden in Nihilanth's chamber is also awesome.

At least Kleiner was doing something worthwhile with his time instead of wondering why they have to wear those stupid ties. :\

EDIT: Also, ow. My pride has been shot by a member who was here longer than I. Medic!

thanks for taking this off topic guys.
well it was answered anyways so my view is that the other scientists like kleiner were meant to be nerdy like that, you are the super awesome bang bang BOOM one. Although it would be cool if kleiner started smashing doors down with the palm of his hand, and beating the sh*t out of the combine

Yeah, he's lurking in an alcove very high up on one of the walls. I thought it was a bug when I first spotted him.

Yeah...

As you can see, I don't spend a lot if time posting.

Anyway, I guess I should say I hate the ignorant new members who don't use the search tool or just post idiotic things.

Then you're going to hate me forever.

Also, you have to wonder just how much of an explosion the teleporter caused. It would've been awesome to return there in a later Episode or another game and see the damage.

Nah, I don't hate you. At least you seem to be an intelligent one.

Ow. Poor me. ;-;

This topic is derailed. But hey, that's why they're called forums! It's like typing up an episode of The View, except with less whiny women!

Pardon the change of subject. Here's my shpiel about new users and the search tool: how can we expect a newcomer to follow a precedent set by veteran users when there is no overt rule instructing them to do so? I'm actually quite annoyed when I see a first-time poster develop a thread on a Gman theory already mentioned, and it's only a matter of minutes AFTER his post - with absolutely no pre-knowledge of the inside rule - do the members of the community begin hurling insults at him. Not to mention the search button takes a bit of screen browsing before you can actually find it for the first time, given it's unusual location (right-of-center and camouflaged in the user interface bar, with no flamboyant or eye-appealing qualities... white text on light orange isn't the most attractive color scheme when looking for something specific). Unusual for me at least, since I'm normal and expect to find a search bar at the top of the screen, preferably in a corner, like every other website.
