Ok ok , so my CS:S , the Stress Test runs fine . But when i get in game , on any server. And face in certain directions , generally the more open areas of each level the game seems to lock up and drop to like 1fps but i turn the camera back and it runs fine.

The game used to run perfectly until i installed Catalyst 4.12 , i removed them and tried the Omega 4.12 got the same problem , uninstaleld those and went back to Omega 4.11 same thing.
So i figured something else might be wrong so i formatted the PC and i installed Omega 4.12 once again , same problem .

Now i cant be bothered formatting again so has anyone else had this problem?

My system specs are

AMD 64 3200+
X800XT
1Gig ddr 400
MSI K8N neo 2 platium

Also , the other games i play seem to run fine. I tried HL2DM and that worked perfectly on Overwatch and the other level.

World of Warcraft has no problems either....

Ok just tried HL2 single player and same problem there . When facing the bigger zones . Even at the begining of the game it completely freezes up , i strafe accross abit and works fine.

This only seems to happen when i have all the settings on max. 1600x1200 16af 6aa etc. But it used to work fine on previous drivers . Could something on my card have fried? :S

OMG! I didn't think anybody (except dual 6800gt sli owners) ran with settings like that! Lower them buddy! At that resolution, you probably wont NEED ny AA!

And well, yeah, your card very well may have fried. Overclocking?

We'll it ran fine a couple of weeks ago is the problem , i never did try ingame after Cat's 4.12 recently but when i did i found the problem . I have never overclocked the card and have an arctic silencer on it , running at bout 30 degrees and in the 50's in game.

Hmm.... must find answer ;S

jesus man! your complaining about sys performance at 1600x1200 with 6xAA and 16xAF! those settings are insane, lower them to 2xAA and 4xAF and you will notice a huge difference and it will still look good.

I've seen this a lot before with any with an ATi card and High AA/AF settings, So just mix and match AA/AF settings till you get to a point where things work out.

Just got it fixed , if anyone else has this problem....

I had to revert to Omega 4.9's with a fresh format , using Omega Driver Cleaner on the 4.12's didnt work for me...

Now ima just wait for the next driver release hehe.
1600x1200 here i come :D

You dont need 16xAF or 6xFSAA at that high resolution. You won't be able to tell the difference. I can run hl2 fine at 1600x1200 on my x800xt platinum with 6xFSAA 16xAF but I cant see a difference between those quality settings and 4xFSAA 8xAF. For that reason i run the game at 1600x1200 4xFSAA 8xAF for a small performance boost.

Most likely running AA like that at 1600 will blurr things out around the edges. Too much AA. As for anisotropics, I stop seing a large difference at 4x. Then it gets nitpicky to the point of stuff like "That rock right there is too blurry at 4x, that little spot of cardboard behind the plane, oh and that pebble"
