HUGE update on whats coming to the Source Engine.

about time for the multicore

I was just about to post it :p

Well, I'll be in the market for a new cpu by then, so if Valve support quad-core, then that is what I'll get.

.bog.

Yay, dual core! Finally.

And new tech level, me likes.

I hope there will be a new technology demo what will be considered as a part of the Half-Life canon.
Btw Can anyone explain me meaning of this image?

Did you watch the videos? It's the environment they created to demo new source effects. ;)

That rain looked sexy.

Oh so sexy! :)

Rain looked fantastic.

Good to hear Valve keeps working on Source and that Steam has been a helpful (or even vital) addition.

The thing that irks me about these CPU's is that not only will you need the new CPU that has N amount of cores, but a new motherboard too. Right?

Just in time as well, I'm upgrading my comp early next year, with an Intel E6400, and a GeForce8800. I guess I will have something to test it on.

I'm just excited to hear developers start pushing multi-core engine designs :) We really are in another huge transition area like Valve said, and I can't wait to see what some people come up with!

More info / new pictures at the above site (go to the second page).

I really really really can't wait for the AI enhancements!!! For so long we've been stuck with robotic AI and now in a few short years, we should have some very intelligent AI :) Finally things will start moving away from graphics (though graphics will still be getting enhanced very often).

ah, so this is why they didn't like the physx card! they were developing new physics for the quadcore all along.
