I suppose this got me thinking:

http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=68933

After starting it, i went and built stuff in garysmod for a bit, came back, and found that it got to "once you put your-" before ComradeBadger interviened.
I realise that i didnt specify that it should be kept clean, no offense to those who posted, but i could easily guess where it was headed...

So, why do many people (in forums) tend towards vulgar humour when not told not to? Forumite nature?

I recall someone did this "continue the story"thing here once before. :P
Obviously its counted as spam, and probably these things gets out of hands anyway. :)

its spam, thats why those get closed, wouldn't matter if it was kept clean or not, they get closed as spam regardless. There's no way around it.

But why is it considered spam. This is the off-topic forum, since it wasn't illegal or annoying or anything. If someone got annoyed with this, then they simply had to ignore it. It was only one thread, and it would be interesting to see what we could come up with.

ah well, i didnt consider that it might have been considered spam, but im a bit confused as to why exactly...

Well the simple answer would be its considered spam cause people use it to increase post counts. Only that reason was thrown out of the window when the post counts were removed and those types of threads cropped up even more, and were still closed.

I suppose it fits under the definition of spam though, as in basically useless threads/posts. It clutters up the forum with threads that have no actual meaning, which in turns forces others to bump threads back up to be noticed, causing more pointless posts, and it just snowballs from there.

It's not that it's on a forum... some people are just that way... not that there's anything wrong with that...
