GM officially reached an agreement today to sell the Hummer brand to China's Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery. Government approval is expected by the end of this year or early 2010 for a rumored sale price of $150 million.

Earlier reports were Tengzhong wanted Hummer to eventually have a manufacturing plant in China and a dedicated dealer network there, which Hummer doesn't have today. But, Hummer is expected to keep its headquarters and current manufacturing in the U.S., as well as its current management and engineering teams.

GM never made a hummer, they made an abomination. The only thing the H2 and H3 did that the H1 couldn't do was suck and fail. I'm still anger and confused by GM's model.

You know the H2 is a Suburban with a different body? Frame is the exact same.

Buy Suburbans, they're actually useful. If you're loaded, buy an Escalade.
 
i'm fine with them selling it off...the Humvee team is designing a new gizmo anyway
 
Hummer cars piss me off. you can't see around them, theres usually one person driving and no one else in the car, and its such a waste of resources. i hope it tanks permanently

Hummers are the worse type of cars you can have in this world.

They're big, they take up a lot of space, parking is a nuisance, and the cost of keeping the fuel up is ridiculous.

I don't know why people drive Smart Cars in America...a Civic gets the exact same mileage and emissions profile without being a tiny, boxy deathtrap. Space is not a problem in the US like it is in Europe, but getting crushed in the tin can of a car by a truck is.
