The two players that control these characters are able to play with each other online. No split-screen, as the team wanted to keep up a certain level of graphical performance. The game has been in development for two years, and the work is easy to see: it looks beautiful, with detailed weapons and enemies. The environments are likewise large in scale. While this is a dungeon crawl, be prepared for some sweeping vistas and epic set pieces.

The perspective is third-person, and co-op finds its way into every aspect of gameplay. You'll be able to carry three potions to resurrect your partner and, in a nice twist, you can see them on your belt; you visually know how reckless or tight you have to play the game. You can throw these vials across the level as well... if you can see your downed comrade, you can rescue them. Both characters are able to use magic to buff the other, and we had the chance to see this in action during a boss fight. Caddoc used his strength to hold down a weakened monster so that E'lara could shoot an arrow into a weak spot to kill it.

setting seems kind of generic. also a departure from their usually deep games

We're told to expect length equal to the other action games we've been playing in the past year, which seems to be industry code for ten hours or less.

Co-op dungeon crawler - i'm all over that :)

Sounds interesting. I want a true dungeon crawler that just randomises the dungeon every time and is a bastard to you. Something like wizardry but with modern(ish) graphics

That sounds so bad ass. I can just picture your fallen brother laying on the ground, writhing in pain, reaching out for help, then - the throw. Wooosh Caught it. Morphine administered.

I am usually the first one to be all over a nice 3rd person dungeon crawl, but this sounds so ridiculously generic and uninspired that I can't imagine I will care. I don't think they had anything close to a Rogue-like in mind when developing this sadly.

Dungeon crawler... hmm sounds like in their area of expertise.
I never played a coop centered game in a fantasy setting.

Just as long as they hire a new animator every game I played from them had stiff animations.

EDIT: I saw a couple of screen shots looks really good though.

Bethesda are only the publisher for Hunted, the developers are inXile, a separate company.

They're also using the Unreal Engine 3 rather than the engine used in Oblivion/Fallout 3.

When is this expected to come out?

They have stated in interviews that they're hoping the game will be finished by the end of this year, which means probably an early 2011 release I guess? Possibly a release this year but since they're only hoping, I'm guessing a release next year is more likely.

It needs to be proper co-op - too many games give you a single player experience in which a friend can tag along.

Any game that has co-op play instantly gets my attention. Hopefully it will be good.
I'm still hoping that Bethesda will make a TES game with MP that's NOT an MMO.

Agreed. An Elder Scrolls game with CS:S-type gameplay would bring down the roof!!

I'd like to experience the sensation humans refer to as love ...
