Hey, just made a mention of it in another post, but I'm wondering how many of you will be affected by it, its projected right now to pass directly over where I'm living (and destroy my home), just like bertha and fran did a few years back, (going outside in the eye of a hurricane is the coolest), but being it is projected to make landfall thursday. (the 18th) and hurricane fran (a weaker storm) caused a 7 day power outage I will probably be without power till the 25th at the earliest, how much do you think this will affect shipping dates? Oh and my internet won't be active for at least another weak after that.... nature hates me.

lol, that sounds bad. umm.... Move!

The High pressure thing in the Atlantic will push Isabel up,and the stream will make it travel up. So,Lone, get your ass ready for it!

Well it is likely this one will hit NY since it is expected to make landfall between the Carolinas and NJ, so unless it ricochets out to sea quickly in the next three days NY will at least get rain and wind and possibly a direct hit. The eastern side of a hurricane is more powerful so if it landfalls in NJ, NY(me), Long Island & Connecticut will get slammed. If it landfalls further down the coast it will weaken more before it hits us.

Back in '85-'86 a hurricane's eye crossed Long Island. We were to the west of the eye and got 50 mph winds. Most of Long Island was to the east and got hit with 90 mph winds. Did a lot of damage out there. Back in the early 80's I recall a couple of 2-3 former hurricances(Tropical storms) that drenched the area, I recall David being one of them. Around '75-'77 we got hit with Belle. The eye passed over us. I recall looking out the window at night and all the rain and wind just dried away and it was calm for several minutes. Then it was back full force. In the sixties there was a bad one, but I was too young or not aolive for that one.

I live in Maryland, Lusby. Will get hit probably, at one point it was forcasted it would go right over top where i live but now its heading north more.

Edit: Last time we got hit by a hurricane a day or two after on the way up from swimming at the beach we saw a tree clip the side of a house on its way down to the ground. We went swimming before the hurricane too, giant waves, no sand on the beach since it was flooded.

Beach house eh?

Nah beach is a 5 minute walk on foot from my house, im about 200-300 feet up from sea level though.

Im in New York just above NYC, hopefully it'll get weaker by the time it hits us, if it even hits us at all that is. (hopefully not)

Williamsburg VA doe me. The eye is supposed to pass about 60miles away from my house, and the part that's supposed to hit my area is the NE quad of it, the msot destructive part. I'm ready for the 100+ mph winds!

I'll take some pictures with my digital camera and uplaod them once my power/internet comes back.

With my luck they'll ask me to ride shotgun in one of my squadron's (I'm in Civil Air Patrol, we do disaster relief stuff) Cessna 172's through the storm. That'd suck hard core, though i doubt we'll be flying anything. We'll proberly have fun looking for ELT and EPIRBs from stupid boaters anf pilots who decied to go out into the storm for us.

im in greensboro nc, i dunno how hard its gonna hit me. but i hope it doesnt kill me before hl2 comes :D

I live in MD too, I guess its coming right for us, hopefully it won't knock out power but still close schools (like that last one).

Thankfully, I live far away from the Atlantic Ocean.

do you guys think it will hit Connecticut??? i doubt it but i havent really been keeping up with this stuff so what have the ysaid about CT

HAHAHAHA......all you guys are going to die!!! :) j/k
