..not all that strange right? it gets better (worse depending on POV):

A man was arraigned Friday on charges that he helped his wife commit suicide by stepping aside as she drove the family minivan down a 300-foot cliff with their two daughters inside.

Both children survived, but Victor Han's 35-year-old wife, Heijin, died in the crash Wednesday night at Bear Mountain State Park, 40 miles north of New York City.

Han, 34, was charged with promoting a suicide attempt and reckless endangerment, both felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

wtf? if he knew she was about to plunge over the cliff then he deserves it (only the child endangerment thingy) ..how you would go about proving that I have no idea

hmmm stand in front of car and get run over by crazy wife or step aside and go to prison. Tough choice. Probably would have been smarter not to marry a wacko.

Right, i think i've grabbed the concept now, but its truely absurd. So if he stayed in front and suffered injuries of getting hit by a van, and dragged down a cliff and certianly killed, or step aside to save his life and be around for the childrens lives?

I don't double this husband made attempts to talk her out of doing it, for her and their childrens sake surely!? And the children, going through the pain of the incident and losing a parent. "Lets lock their dad away to ruin their life completely". I'm very concerned about this logic.

Agree'd with Danny boy. She's crazy, so she'd obviously kill him anyways if he didn't move.

Glad the kids survived that 300ft drop though. Something to tell the kids when you're older.
"Your grandmother was a crazy bitch, but I survived a 300ft drop! :E"

I think the moral of the story is stay away from crazy women, especially if you live in America.

Err, no. Read the article. It says that it is believed that he exited the car, knowing full well what she intended to do. I dunno about you, but if my kid's lives were in danger, I would do anything to stop her from inside the car. Even if it meant we were all going off that cliff together if I failed.

How they are going to go about proving that he exited the car knowing what she was doing is beyond me.

It did not say anything about him being in front of the car. Its probably easier to get a car to not drive off a cliff by being inside of it instead of in front of it...

I fail to see how some insane woman and her jerkoff husband is basis for America bashing.

Only in America LOL! :|

Yeah, "stepped aside" is a bad choice of words- it makes it sound like he's being charged for jumping out of the way.

"Sat back and let her kill herself" would be more accurate.

If it was just herself, that would be one thing. But it was the two kids, too. That's what makes it f*cked up.

I see, well there must have been a reason for it, i don't think any father would do that and allow his children to go through that without him trying his best. Perhaps he was really scared, or she threatened to hurt one of the children.

Since I'm the only person who's mentioned america I assume that's directed at me.

I'm not bashing america. Get over yourself.

I'd like to think that any mother wouldn't try to kill herself and her kids, but I guess I'm wrong there, too :/

What was that about, then?

Whatever man, you can bash America for no reason, and I can make fun of you for it, k?

Police said they believe Victor Han left the car knowing that his wife was suicidal, and that she had earlier threatened to harm herself and their daughters. He "afforded her an opportunity for her to carry out her intentions," police said in a statement.

How the hell do you draw that conclusion?

Yeah your sig really is appropriate.
Please show me where someone get sent to court for not killing himself off by going in front of a car which probably drives in high speed, which didn't happen in America. =)

I immediately gleaned the good part of this... the daughters survived. This is great. Short of a miracle(in the non religious sense)

Hey, tubby. Pipe down.

We do have some really stupid laws concerning suicide. I think Wikipedia lists some states that deliver capital punishment for suiciders... it's pure idiocy.

Let's see. From the article:
CNN said:
Police said the family had stopped at a scenic overlook in the state park about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Han got out of the minivan, and his wife "put the vehicle in drive and locked the doors," park police Col. James Warwick said Friday.
Reasonable.

Bullshit. How they hope to prove an accusation like that without an "I am going to kill myself" letter from the wife or something equally incriminating is beyond even my vast intellect.

Great job not reading the article, because that isn't what happened here at all.

Let's see, someone's being accused of endangering the welfare of his kids and what does the state do? Take away their only remaining parent and screw them over even more, of course :upstare: The worst the father can be accused of is cowardice, it's not like he deliberately tried to kill the kids.

The "wow" comment was actually aimed at how you were so oblivious of what the topic even is, and also because you're trying so hard to be obnoxious. Good job, sir!
