I dunno if anyone else followed this game when it was announced, but I did and I'm glad it's finally gotten a proper publisher and will be seeing release soon enough.

It's water physics shown early on were quite awesome, and I hope it turns out as open-ended as they had originally planned it to be.

Thanks for the links mooman, can't wait.

Shame it seems like you and me are the only ones in here interested in it.

I'd be more interested if it wasn't a 360 exclusive. It was supposed to come to PC and PS3 as well.

Also what the hell are you doing aboard an ocean city if you're hydrophobic?

Absolutely sweet looking water and wave effects. The buoyancy looks cool too (but weight seems wrong on heavy objects), but when she got hit in the head by that 300 pound steel door floating at about 10 MPH, it hit her head as if her head also weighed 300 pounds.

Console game. Looks like a console game, plays like a console game, sounds like a console game.

Animation is robotic, like when hanging from pipes and moving to the side. Also, she was jumping pipe to pipe effortlessly - it needs more animations or something. It looks really really bad. Maybe add some variance to the distance her hands are apart too.

Earpiece helper guy is annoying - his voice, the things he says, the constant interval of speech.
Main character is annoying. If you're playing in 3rd person view, she shouldn't be louder than the god damn building collapsing. I'd rather it be so quiet that I miss some of what she is saying.

Despite all that, if they made it for the PC, I'd still keep an eye on it.

Would you care to explain exactly what makes it "look" like a console game, and "sound" like a console game?

To me it doesn't appears to have any worse production values than most indie games on the PC.

The climbing animation, the speech and the linearity.

An indie game?

Dark Energy Digital announced Microsoft as publisher of watery action game Hydrophobia earlier today. The "trilogy" is exclusive to Xbox Live Arcade.
Ok, that explains it.

I have played PC titles with awful climbing animations, awful speech and linear gameplay, so I fail to see how that makes a game 'console.'

Also, it has been developed largely without the financial aid of a publisher, and was for the most time intended for the PC, PS3 and 360.

So yes, it is an indie title, considering they're a fairly small studio and have largely developed it independently.

The fact Microsoft at the end decided to pick it up as an X-Box Live Arcade exclusive doesn't make it less of an indie title, especially considering how many XBLA games there are that are just that, indie games.

I didn't know it was a budget title, but regardless of price/who made it/etc. I make a habit of pointing out things I don't like. Maybe they will change before it's finished. If you notice I also said this "Absolutely sweet looking water and wave effects." If everyone just said good things, every game must be perfect.

It just looks and sounds like the run of the mill console game to me. It's kinda like a platform game with all of the jumping and hanging and balancing.

The world isn't covered in water. There just isn't a lot of resources left on land and rich people built a boat. There's still LAND.

The game's protagonist chose a completely optional job on a boat when she's afraid of water.

The premise of the story doesn't make sense. DEAL WITH IT!

Also, no PC version, not interested...

Interesting take on PoP style platforming. It's a shame the acting is so horrible.

thought it was inspired on movies like the abyss

besides the water effect, dont look that interesting
