My cat will bite you if you do that to her after first hissing at you(she hasn't hissed at me in a long time though because she loves me!). She does not like the base of her tail area being exclusively petted. She's especially intolerant to people she's not familiar with... but will even snap at me. She will not however snap at me if I'm stroking her tail. If you're going to pet the top of her body near her tail you had better be doing full strokes from head to tail.

Cats are weird that way with different personalities. First person to innuendo anything I just said dies.

My uncle has a cat that where if you do that to it it has a tick where it'll lick itself. Whenever you start rubbing, he'll start licking himself down around his chest.
