I am Legend! TRAILER!

Hope they don't mess it up, but it looks good so far

Love the book

Trailer didn't actually sway me either way. I still want it to be good, and they've obviously updated much of the plot, but theres nothing there that makes me think its going to be awesome or abysmal.

I'm not sold on this. They should stop calling this I Am Legend and just accept it as a remake of The Omega Man.

Will be a great action movie - but in no way have the deeper sense that the book carried.

QFT, my expectations of it even approaching what the book nailed are low, but it looks great nonetheless.

The Omega Man was based on I Am Legend there captain.

Also I think this movie looks terrible and won't do the book any justice at all.

Is it just my imagination, or did those zombies or whatever they are, look like Golum LOL

I'm aware of that, but Omega Man deviated quite a bit as well.

Yeah, "based on" being the operative phrase. The Omega Man is nothing like the true I Am Legend. The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price is much closer, but it's still no match for the book.

Seriously, they just need Richard Matheson to write a script that follows the book perfectly and find a good director who will stick to it. I don't even want it modernized. They need to stop that crap. The book was written about a certain time and place. leave it there. Don't stick it in NYC in the future with flashy cars and M-4's. And those vampires (if they are vampires) look shite. I hate Hollywood.

I'll try to withhold judgement, but as it stands, it looks really sad that they're using the I Am Legend name for this.

I'll still watch... hoping... praying that it's not completely f*cked up.

Looks okay...

I'm not sure if the only man left in the world would say to a dog, "I'm not playing..." Thats just too Fresh Prince of Bel Air for me... I know I certainly would abandon all street talk if I was the last man alive on earth. I don't know how Will Smith keeps getting in Sci-Fi roles...

The book is awsome.... but this film just smells of fail ever since they announced the casting of will smith...

The trailer still looks sort of cool but I see War of the Worlds coming...

I think Will Smith is actually really capable of dong Neville justice. And I really liked Constantine (the director's previous movie).

It just seems like this movie is being developed all wrong.

Constantine shat over the source material in quite a few areas too. So while I may expect the director to possibly make a good action film, I don't expect him to helm a faithful adaptation.

Which is the entire problem.

This is true, but Constantine was at least less butchered than I expected it to be.

Just saw a new trailer for this and it looks pretty awesome. Kind of like 28 days later, but american and bigger.

Your brother shaves dogs for a living? He is legend.

Wow, so incidentally I just got done watching "The Last Man on Earth", which I think was the first movie adaptation of the story. Will Smith can try, but I doubt he'll ever match the cheesiness or monotone of Vincent Price.

I'm still totally looking forward to it.

Vincent Price is sexy and awesome.

Looks like it'll be fun to watch.

Luckily I've never read the book.

Your loss mate. I just finished the book - prompted by this thread - and it was a absolutely cracking story. The thought of Will Smith filling the role makes me cringe now.

It's very short and very awesome - go read!

Is it finishable within less than a week?

You could finish it in a day if you had nothing to do. It's only 160 pages.

Neat, I bet they will all be rented out from the library though D:

I'll be honest that the trailers haven't done anything much for me :|

omg.

This movie looks so much more awesome than I thought it was going to be!

Definatley seeing it now.

Apparently it's very well done, apart from the CGI of the monsters.

I saw this last night, first opening. It was a great film up until the last 30 minutes, I think. The CGI monsters looked like creatures from the Mummy as my friend so frequently pointed out during the movie.

Other than that, it was a fantastic film. The resolve and conclusion was very disappointing, but everything up until then was brilliant. It's one of Will Smith's best movies, in my opinion, he just pulls off every emotion so believably.

Yeah, oddly enough what I'm hearing is that Smith is the movie's strong point, since he does an excellent job throughout. Which is disappointing, but it apparently not a complete train wreck either so I'm not really upset.

Yeah every thing up till the last 30 minutes. Poor Sam :(

Looking forward to this one since i saw the trailer a few weeks back, looks awesome.

Is it worth watching in an IMAX theatre in your opinion? That's what I might end up watching it in.

Oh definitely. It's a great film... up until the last 30 minutes.

I'll be seeing it some time this weekend. I'm really anticipating a good time. I also received a $7.00 rebate off of admission from the purchase of The Omega Man on DVD. :)

The movie was very good, but very very sad. I like that.

My girlfriend, and most of the people around me, did not.

I agree the ending sucked, and there was way too much CGI. Also, wtf was up with the mannequin trap?

Question: How attached did you get to Samantha the dog, your co-star?

Smith: Abbey is her real name. When I was probably nine-years-old, I had a dog named Trixie - a white golden retriever that got hit by a car - so I refuse... I tell Jada, you and the kids can have the dogs you want, but I am not putting myself emotionally connected to a dog any more. Then Steve brought that damn Abbey to the set. It's like, you say a smart dog. It got to a point where she'd be playing, playing, playing and then she'd hear, 'Rolling!', and she'd run over to her mark and get ready. I was like, 'What the hell?' She would know when I wasn't doing my lines right. If I would get lost in the scene, she would go [Smith makes a 'puzzled face' look]. I connected and allowed myself to be fond of a dog since the experience, and I told Steve the owner, 'Please, Abbey has to live with me.' He's like, 'Will, this is how I make my living, man.' She's just smart, and fun and warm. I experienced the loss again. Steve said, 'I'll bring her over every weekend, Will. But she has to work.' It was painful, but she was great. I used to watch Lassie, and animals can be smarter than other animals. She's way on another plane of connecting to what your energy is, what your feelings are, protective and all that. It was beautiful.
