I think that's what it's called, saw the trailer for it when I watched HP5 today. Will Smith alone in New York something. Looks cool. Is supposed to be in theaters 2008.

Apparently it's more like "The Omega Man" than "I Am Legend".

If so, what a disappointment. It better have vampires, and the ending better be kept intact.

To be completely honest, they should rename it. Especially if they're remaking The Omega Man instead of making a proper movie version of I Am Legend. And that's exactly what it seems to be.

Using the I Am Legend title without making it anything like the book is a travesty. Why is it in NYC? Why are they showing what happened before?

I'll see about giving it a chance, but this is definitely not a sure-fire. I want a proper I Am Legend film. That would be amazing.

Well its not set in the seventies either. I can live with the different time period and setting since there wasn't anything about Los Angeles that made it that essential to the story.

And yeah, they do show some of what happened, but that in itself doesn't invalidate it yet. I can see why they did it, but we don't know how much they reveal from the beginning yet.

The movie seemed cool to me for the full 24 hours between me seeing the preview and me finding out it was a vampire movie...that killed it for me...

Well, they're not true vampires per se. The vampiric qualities are a result of a widespread bacterial infection. But yeah, in all practicality, it's got vampires.

That said, it's the twist that makes it cool. A unique take on vampire lore, and you need to read through it to understand the title.

Well why have a title of either a Vampire or Mutant film if it doesn't contain neither.

I bet this time its blood sucking chupacabras

Fair enough on the setting, but unless there's some story-crucial reason it needs to be in NYC then it's a bit silly to move it from LA, which is fairly perfect for shooting movies.

Some of the best stuff from the book was not knowing exactly what happened until we found out over time based on memories and other tidbits.

Oh, and I don't remember Neville running around with a tricked-out M-4.

Seems very interesting.
