I am at Shalebridge Cradle mission right now. You know, I always thought Return to the Cathedral (mission from first Thief) was one of the scariest things I ever encountered in the game. Well, it’s true, until I played this mission. Jesus Christ, I only started and I don’t have strength to finish it, I am physiologically drained :/ I always play game at night, so it adds a lot to the atmosphere. But here damn, I mean you hear all these sounds, but you don’t see anyone. I think the scariest part in the whole mission is that I didn’t encounter any monsters, ghosts, zombies yet. But I hear like someone is walking behind me, like someone is banging on the door. Argh… thanks god place is dark, but man, I know I need to
turn on the power
, and after lights go on, I will crap myself even more. I don’t know to play this level when there is no place to hide.

Turn around and FACE IT!!!!

lol

actually, no game has ever managed to get me scared. Maximun was suspense.

That’s a problem, I turn around and there is absolutely nothing. I don’t know what the heck I should be facing when I can’t even see it :P

It's in your head :rolling: :rolling: :D

Ohohoh, I just saw something move... HAHAHA, I JUST SAW HOW IT MOVES! BHAHA.... I have no idea how I will ever be able to finish this mission.

man, your really tempting me to get this game. damn you americant with your early release dates!!! damn you!!!

btw, do you actually get to meet monsters and zombies? i havent played the first two...

When you hear the noise or see something move..pull out your minigun and mow the entire place down. Then you have no need to be scared.

I have to say...you make the game sound quite good ;) i downloaded the demo last night and i went through all the training mission and thought it was a really really shite game but hmm....is the demo just a bad demo because it wouldnt make me want to go buy it (i havent played the first two either or ever heard of it).

Agreed, I just finished it. Gotta love killing everyone on sight and stealin all the 13w7 in the place :)

I just started that mission to, Mr.Reak.

I agree it's one of the creepiest game levels I've ever seen. Anyway, back to it. =)

Damnit, I swear there is something behind me ;(

just think, your a thief, and darkness is your greatest allie. you should actually be welcoming the darkness in every part of the game, not scared of it.

Ack, I am completely stuck on the cradle level...

I just picked up the bird cage and need to take "to the right spot" to go into the past. I read in a book that the girl use to hang the birdcage on the Balcony so I assume that is where I need to take it. Well, my question is, where the heck is the balcony? I've searched all through both the outer and inner cradle and I don't remember ever seeing any balcony. I need to get past this level as it is hell on my nerves, heh.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I don't really know, but

Try other things, you only need to do it for one person. I did the easiest one, take spoons/forks from room #2 and bring themt o the plate at dinning room. Or mask from a electric chair and bring it to the room #1. After that just don't get cut.

I actually finally found it. I had walked right past it a dozen times, but it was in a dark spot. Thanks though. :)

i can find the freakin switch for the safe, i feel ashamed of myself. can someone tell me where its at?

in the demo, the switch is the torch thing on the wall to the right of the fireplace. I found it right away after I realized I needed to find a "hidden" switch.

What level? I don't remember any safes in this level.

Thief scary?
Silent Hill 2, when you were in the apartments, now that was scary.

As I said, until you played that level, you have no room to talk.

Why does this game run so poorly on my computer? I can run Far Cry at Very High settings but I have to descrease the resolution to 800x600 in Thief 3 and the framerate is still crap!

I've got a Pentium 3.2 Ghz, a Geforce ti4200 and 512 megs of RAM by the way.

Well, what setting do you have on? Turn bloom off and AA off.
Game runs poorly because engine is crap, plus real time lighting/shadows is a real hit on the computer.

They're both off. Everything is off. It still runs like poo.

Do you have the latest drivers and all too? Cause I have a 2.5 XP, 512 ram, and a Ti4400 and it runs great at 1024x768 so you shouldn't be having any problems I wouldn't think.

I visit Guru 3D all the time and keep up with all the latest drivers. Your gfx card is just slightly better than mine so I shouldn't really be having THIS many troubles. Hmmm....

I got over 30 fps in 800x600 on the demo with a p4 2.4 radeon 9200 <your card should run it much better than mine
