Now if you excuse me, I'm off to watch a picture of a banana while listening to the creepy Dexter theme.

Worth 1 (one) viewing I suppose, the Gothic look of London was done nicely, and its the first of many movies to come i suspect, as it wasn't a terrible movie, but a good attempted imho, some of the scenes were nicely done, although the style of the movie confounds me, I understand what Richie was trying to do, but seemed unnecessary, like they explain how Holmes takes down an opponent with ease, thankfully that it wasn't over used, or the movie would become quite tiresome, although it protrayed how brilliant of an intellect that holmes is in this movie, rather than being the master of deduction like most other movies.

professor Moriarty is involved btw

Yeah I didn't really enjoy it at all. Extremely predictable and just silly. Would've preferred a bit more serious take on it.

To those that have seen this, should I expect a silly action movie like Shoot em Up, or Crank. If that is the case, I will enjoy it.

It is a fairly well made, entertaining movie. It's good for what it is.

from what i can tell, it looks nothing like what a sherlock holmes film should look like, therefore i do not believe it could possibly be good for what it is.

because it doesn't look like how a sherlock holmes film should look like.

I'm literally going to see this in 25 mins with a friend who works at the theater and gives us free tickets

you gotta experiment with stuff maaan

you don't mess with sherlock holmes man.

though i'm reserving any further comments until i see it, which i won't do any time soon as i have no drive to see it. i'll wait til someone has it at uni and we watch it out the blue

It's certainly no where near that degree of silly, but you can still expect to have some fun with it.

Well, I knew it wouldn't be Sherlock Holmes: The Movie Equivalent before I ever went into the theatre. It's essentially just a simple mystery movie with some action and some humor, which is what I was expecting.

people who read the books: boring people
people who watch the movie: people who have sex

case closed!

I found it really interesting and entertaining. Especially those "Holmes Moments" where he thinks about what he does in slow motion, deduces the damage incurred, and does it. But it's good that it only happens twice, because it would be a looong movie if it did.

Don't waste your time being irritated by Warped.

If you picture Warped as spending the bulk of his time in the HL2.net pillory, you will find him substantially less annoying.

This looks as bad as the rest of Ritchie's tripe.

Just saw it, there were a few ha ha moments but nothing special. They could have cut about half an hour out of the film but I'm glad I didn't spend a dime to see this movie. I'm not even going to rent or buy this movie, so I give it a 6/10

This.

I enjoyed it. I didn't know jack about Sherlock Holmes fiction before the movie, other than he was a detective who was really good at detectiving. There was only one thing I didnt like, and that was how he literally explained everything at the end. It was pretty easy to follow and come to the correct conclusions on your own while watching the movie, so it seemed unnecessary. Only an utter idiot couldn't have seen what was really going on by the time Holmes figured it out (maybe thats why not many people liked it? Because we figured it out before Holmes did, and he supposed to be a superdetective?).

Also, the part where the theater I was watching it at messed up the sound and we couldn't hear anything for like 10 minutes. That part sucked too.

it's hard to find the sarcasm from you when what you posted was pretty typical warped forum talk.

Went in expecting to be bored.

Came out completely entertained and wanting more.

Good movie me thinks.

It was pretty entertaining, I thought. There were certain elements that could've been improved IMO but in general the movie was a satisfying experience.

Also, I believe a sequel is underway, and there are rumors that Brad Pitt will star as Moriarty. Discuss.

Moriarty sounded like Malcolm McDowell in this movie...

My only complaint is when movies use technology out of the time. Super-tasers? Wireless technology? That's too much...

At least they aren't building giant mechanical steam powered spiders that shoot apocalyptic fireballs of doom.
