So, with some of my Christmas money I bought a PSP and a memory card (Why don't they come with the PSP? :|) I got the Darth Vader PSP. Renegade Squadron is pretty fun, I also got the new WH40k squad command game and Jeanne D'Arc. Anything else I should get? I do like it so far. :p

Do they sell the Giga pack over where you live? It comes with some accesories (the little pouch to keep it in, earphones, stand (which is quite useless), etc) + a 1gb card.

Anyway, back to your question, I recommend getting the two GTAs, the multiplayer is quite awesome. I just recently bought Silent Hill: 0rigins, even though it got pretty bad reviews I still think it's an awesome game, great atmosphere, level design, I pretty much just couldn't put it down once I popped it in (although maybe I like it so much simply coz I'm a fan of the series :) ). Other than that I don't really know because the only good games I've got are those three, you may want to try Tekken although I don't now how it is on the PSP, I only have the PS2 version.

You can customize your character in Renegade Squadron.
Minigun is overpowered.
+Half of them are useless.

When I bought mine, I didn't get that treatment.
It saddened me.
And how the hell did he get it out of the plastic so quickly?

Get the the latest 3.0x custom firmware release, get the Hot Shots PS1 game (found in most bargain bins), and follow instructions for getting PS1 games to work on your PSP. (A Hot Shots file is required if I recall) Rip Final Fantasy 8 (...or 7...) by using your PS1 disks and some software. Put on PSP. Play. Be happy.

IMO the thing sucks. Won't accept any format for movies and the video converters don't synch the audio. Most homebrew is stupid stuff like calculators coded by kids. Games blow on it except for GTA and that God of War game played great in the demo. Music is ok but won't hold lots of songs. Wifi is great...if you even have any around you. Hate the system IMO. I want teh GPS unit and get some use out of the thing at least. Never trust Mapquest. :flame:

Homebrew?
faqz please.
Also, I do have a wifi point next to my house. :p
I put on a couple of songs in it, it plays in really good quality.
The PSP came with the 3.6 update.

Yes, but you need to subscribe for homebrew games and pay a one time cash though, then it's downloadable games all the way! Google it Ace...

Sorry what? Pay money what the **** are you on about? Homebrew is FREE. The only problem is you'll have to hax your PSP to run custom firmware. Go here: http://pspupdates.qj.net/Dark-AleX-...port-3-71-M33-2-installation/pg/49/aid/104131 You will need someone with a haxed PSP to help you out.

You have no idea what you're talking about or the alternative you're an idiot. Converting videos is not hard and there are many many many useful home-brew applications. The most time consuming being emulators.

That was the really old method. You no longer need a hot shots image and not only that you got it all wrong. You needed a Hot Shots image from the play station store which contained the correct keys to allow the PSPs emulator to play it. Said keys are now included in the programs used to convert psx isos to eboots.

GET LOCOROCO. Now. It's so awesome you won't understand how awesome it is.

EDIT: And right now you can't downgrade Slim PSPs with 3.60 and above.

EDIT: And right now you can't downgrade Slim PSPs with 3.60 and above.

Why would you want to do that? You want to upgrade to 3.71 M33 the only downside is the lack of a 1.5 kernal mode but most everything will work anyway. Then you can freely screw around with any home-brew apps you wish and even load backed up isos straight off your memory stick.

I never said he should downgrade, I actually think it's stupid (and my PSP does all I want it to do anyway).

My point was even if you could and currently you cannot there would be no reason to do so.

I need to sit down and figure out how to convert PS1 games to be played on PSP. Playing FF7 on the move would really make my couple of days. Also wanna try Castlevania if its around still.

When i got my PSP from Japan it was awesome, now though its been neglected since last Xmas when i was in South Africa. Shame really, its still sat in my cupboard behind me...poor thing.

I'd buy a psp if it allowed Spyro 1 :<

How do I downgrade my 3.72 PSP? I'm getting tips from kids on how to break a $250 device and they arn't even showing how it's done. I'm hearing that you have to:
  1. Get a spare battery.
  2. You don't need a spare battery.
  3. A pandora battery won't work.
  4. Cutting a pin off the battery, WTF!!?!?
  5. Having a spare PSP with 1.50 on it. (another $200 device..like you just find PSPs lying around)
  6. You don't need a spare.
This is what I mean with the whole PSP thing. Kiddies are telling you what to do on it including busting and literally mutilating a $250 gameboy.

But SD mod chip for a DS... It's practically made of epic.

How do I downgrade my 3.72 PSP?
Where are you getting your advice from?

Get a spare PSP battery. Google Pandora's GUI 1.5, download it, and run it. It'll give you step by step instructions for downgrading a PSP and slim.

If you can navigate that, you may not need an extra battery. When running the last step where it says to create the jigkick battery, back up the eeprom in the battery (its an option in the battery creator program). When you're done and want to convert your battery into a normal one, remove the battery, plug your PSP into the wall power, insert the battery after you reach the XMB, run the battery creator program again, and then restore the battery eeprom. I did it, and it worked.

Definitely get Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror and Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow. Those are both excellently done PSP FPS's. Though you can't taser bad guys until they catch fire and run around babbling like idiots in Logan's Shadow. :(

I got a PSP For christmas, And Was quite pissed when I saw the memory card Didn't come with it. So I ended up spending a total $350 :O

I don't understand the technical PSP talk.
:(

Me neither. They got 2 different names for a battery. A "jigkick" and a "Pandora battery". I did downgrade my PSP once but upgraded after getting frustrated trying to install an emulator to run MGS. Flashed a whole bunch of colors, ran like a bios thing, then crashed. :O Restarted and it downgraded. Get me on Steam ricera10 because I don't want to screw this up big time lol. *Magic Memory cards...wtf. *This is me basically: http://animedesho.animeblogger.net/?p=98

Indeed - probably would be better if you guys discussed such things off the forum. My friend has done all that dodgy stuff to it, with homebrew or something and swears by it. You brave souls...

This is what I mean with the whole PSP thing. Kiddies are telling you what to do on it including busting and literally mutilating a $250 gameboy.

Kids are stupid, ignore them and read the documentation that comes with the tools.

Heres the process. Borrow haxed PSP (Does not need 1.5 the tools work on the 3x kernal and so any haxed PSP will do) - read documentation on how to make a fatboy (fat battery) pandora - read documentation on how to make a magic memory stick (usually requires grabbing a offical sony files)- Put required 3.71 M33 installer files onto the magic stick - stick pandora and magic ms into PSP slim or fat - Press the button to install 3.71 M33.

If you cannot find a haxed PSP there are people on maxconsole who will help you make a Pandora/Magic stick combo if you mail them the battery and your MS. Once your running 3.71 m33 you can turn your battery back into a normal one.

* Also you can turn a slim battery into a pandora battery but you must snap a pin. I highly suggest avoiding this method and buying a fat battery.

That's because modding for a DS is legal.

PSP modding/hacking is legal too. Distributing official sony files is not and hence why you must make your own firmware dumps (old method). Well the custom 3.71 files are not just handed to you. One must acquire the official sony updater files and the installer goes from there. The installer and everything else contains no code from Sony.

Nothing illegal has been discussed here. The wonderful thing about Pandora is that it is literally impossible to software brick your PSP unless your foolishly upload someone elses nand to your unit. Dump and use your own nand, not that you'll ever encounter a time to do so if everything is done right. I've had little to no issues since I've been fooling around with my PSP since the early days of Japanese 1.0 then came the 1.5 hack then 2.0 to 1.5 and so on. There was always a turbulent time where kiddies would foolishly upgrade and could then no longer downgrade for months until a flaw in the new version was found. Ofcourse now we have pandora/jigkick Sony's method for restoring bricked PSPs. Hence this method can not be stopped until Sony create a new quick method for restoring bricked units and release a new model of the PSP.

I went out and bought Parappa the Rapper.
****ing hardest rhythm game EVER.
I'M HITTING THE RIGHT BUTTONS
WTF
WHY AM I FAILING

I had both those games on my PSP. lots of fun.

Haven't touched my PSP in ages though, I stopped playing it before all this pandora stuff came about. I was always scared that my psp would get bricked.

Get Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, Final Fantasy Tactics, Silent Hill: Origins, Patapon (when it comes out), God of War: CoO (when it comes out) and most of the other games people have already mentioned. It is a great system.

Oh, and don't overlook this:
