My mighty robot is complete!

and its only slightly smaller than a minifridge!

does it play mp3's, or dispense beer?

btw you are pure awsome.

Looks badass!

Now destroy militaries of the world my little robot friend. DESTROY!

Looks awesome! Did you build it from some kind of kit or something?
What can it do? Or does it not actually have any moving parts? Tell us more about the mighty robot!

:O Looks awesome!

If it shoots guns, I'd buy it. :p

alas it doesn't shoot or move.

I built it out of stuff i got at home depot, a dismantled matrix 3 mech figurine, and assorted parts from a pair of model tank kits.

the only moving bits are the antenna (which can have its angle adjusted) and the nose guns which can swivle in a whole bunch of directions. Took me like a month and a half worth of work time and severl hundred dollars.

Hmm, so I'm not crazy for thinking you based it off the mechs from the Matrix.

That mech doesn't look matrix based, it reminds me alot of a few Battletechs(Mechwarrior games).:)
Anyway, very nice!:D
If I had the money and the patience I'd definitely wanna build something like that, I'm a huge mechnut myself, been considering trying to build a miniature "Vertical Tank" myself for some time actually.:)

Go for it Garg. Just know this...make it easy to transport and don't make it wider than doorways

and Danimal, its not matrix based. I only used the matrix toy for various parts, not for its design. For example the Twin nose guns were originally the matrix toy's arms,

Impressive.

Thing is debris, I'm not good with glue and plastic parts, I guess I could always check at my school if I can do it with tree-based material or metal-based material.:)
Like, all my tanks model etc are metal diecast, plastic feels too vulnerable to me.

This is the one I really wanna do, it just have such an awsome design imo.

yeah i love those VTs, thats where i got the idea to put the 2 large armor panels on the side of the vulcan looking gun.

I know what you mean about the plastics. But my robot has only got plastic bits on the outside. Inside its welded steel. Plus my ability with glue extends only so far as "slap a glob down on a piece and hope it sticks"

the best advice i can give if you wanna make that VT is to get objects that approach the overall shape of the larger segments of the VT and use them along with metal bars in building a strong sturdy metal skeleton. This will require a significant amount of welding or very careful searching for parts that go together.

After you have the overall skeleton built, start adding parts or extending the skeleton to refine the form of the robot.

After the you do that, start covering up the hollow areas with sheet metal or metal panels. I used a glue called "goop" works like a charm, is strong but flexible. You'll need like 8 large tubes worth if you are going to make this thing big as or bigger than mine by the time you are done.

Once you have the design all covered is when you do all the detail work. Its up to you what you end up using. My advice is to find any available (and expendable) thing that has interesting looking bits and cannibalizing it for parts. In my case it was a toy and a set of model tank kits. However it can be anything. Although i must say, tank kits have all sorts of little bits that come in handy.
