I came up with a game idea!

I thought of this after a nightmare i had the other night. In the game you play some nameless person. After the title screen you find yourself in an empty room holding a 9mm gun (its an FPS), slowly the door creaks open and a zombie type creature crawls through. You shoot it (or die if you prefer) and it is followed by serveral more. Eventually you go through the door and realise you are in someones house that, for some reason, is full of zombies. After you have shot them all evrything goes dark and when the lights come back up you find yourself back in the room you started off in, all the zombies have gone. It is morning and you come out of the room to find the rest of your family milling about. Ahhhh, thats it you think, it was a nightmare. Or was it? You eventally come out of the house and someone comes up to you. "I had anouther one last night, I guess you did to". Hmm maybe it was no dream, this person shares the experiences with you.

That is the beginning. Through the game there are nights where you fight off zombies and days where you puzzle solve(eg. breaking a cabinet with a gun it during the day means you can go back and get it at night) and talk to people. Eventually you get out of the house and fight zombies all around the distorted version of the town where you live, along with your friend. Eventually you find out what has been happening- at night somehow you go to Hell, a parellel universe you find where dead people go and get distorted into zombies. Because there are so many dead souls now in hell you are sent in your dreams to kill them to stop them overflowing into earth. However your efforts fail and the barrier between earth and hell breaks down, zombies porring in. Eventually it completely dissaperears and the town is evacuated, you left behind to fight the zombies, eventually batteling Satan himself. The next day you find that evryone has come back and town is as it was before- as a final twist you find out that evrything that happend was completely in your head, it never happend, and your friend who made you think the experiences where real never existed anywhere else apart from your mind.

So what if i nicked all those ideas! Its still kinda original!

Heh, kinda reminds me of a book I once read.. I forget the name.


But yeah, it sounds very dramatic to me. Very intrigueing. (spelling?!).


I wish more games had a story you actually had a part in figureing out instead of just following it...

Sounds like an interesting horror survival adventure. Collect a team and make a mod I would say, but scrap the fighting satan idea (Why? Satan can never be perfectly executed, He is a force, not a person or a demon, you go to cliche eventually). Instead, make it your friend who you fight and was the reason hell merged into our current dimension, so you kill him, and then you wake up and found out you shot yourself in the stomach (because your friend is you so yeah) and you die sound's like a cool twist

Anyway, the game idea does sound interesting and I think perhaps if you were to incorporate some of the ideas in this thread. For example, not haveing satan and perhaps having your friend as the final guy. I dunno about the Fight Club idea of a split personality, it seems interesting but...well...Its fight club :O I suppose ideas can be reused and still have an original viewpoint though.

Sounds like you have a winner, but instead of Vietnam flashbacks make it Gulf War flash backs, because I just saw parts of The Manchurian Canidate and that was pretty cool.

my idea about the final fight with satan is the end of the game goes back to where it started in the house, you go from room to room in each you have to fight a zombie that has been possesed by satan until he eventually runs out of energy, also the house is burning down while this happens. The day after when you think you have saved evryone you are given a CCTV video of you setting the house on fire, followed by a series of flashbacks where you see all the other links.

The comment about Fight Club was directed at EVIL's idea of shooting the enemy at the end and having it turn out that you really shot yourself. The idea of schizophrenia and/or multiple personalities is too general to say you're ripping off another movie or game. The plot sounds original enough.
