The tunnel was really dark so to get it exposed I ended up over exposing the hell out of the background. Of course maybe you could view it as the "light of the end tunnel" or some artistic nonsense; but anyway, do you guys think it's usable? I've tried to level the background out as much as I could in PS, but this is the dimmest I could get it without making the rest of the picture weird.

It looks pretty good, but yeah, I'd say it would be better without it being so bright...takes away from the rest of the picture imo.

But still a nice shot.

Not that I can see it, as my work blocks flickr, but can't you have the original, plus a faked underexposed image for the "light at the end" and splice them together?

Or even create an HDR image from it.

Yeah, create a HDR image for it man..seriously, go take a light probe and take a hdr image for it. (and send me the HDR file...lol) you can do some awesome 3d work with such a shot..

To create an HDR shot I'd need to return to that spot, which is sort of hard to do...which is why I'm trying to fix, or live with, what I have.

foreground looks great but the background is far too bright

technically yes the background is overexposed, but artistically it stands out
