i cant even open the editor!!!

when i open the editor i get an error message saying:
1. set enviroment variable 'vproject' to the path where gameinfo.txt is
2.place " below the path where gameinfo.txt is.
3.add-game <path> on the comandline where <path> is the directory that gameinfor.txt is in.

i have made a game info file and put it in Steam/SteamApps/youraccount/half-life 2/

i dont understand what i need to do to be able to start using the editor.

Check your configuration in hammer with this guide

Should clear up that error message

no i cant even get the editor to do nething like as soon as i press ok on the error message the editor closes

Dont click OK on that message, just go straight to tools -> options that will opend the configure hammer window
