I have tried to restart Steam but it still won't get the patch. When I click on update news it just says Aug 26. avilable for pre-load. I have also tried removing the ClientRegistry.blob and Steam created a new one, but sill no patch.
Any suggestions?

It's patched. The update news is outdated.

But I had no message telling me that the game was patched and nothing has changed in my config file. The patch is supposed to add a line in the config file, isn't that so? Is that the only thing it does?

Im having the exact same problem...no patch has EVER been downloaded...everything is exactly the same. I keep hearing people talk about the patch and stuff...nothing has downloaded for me at all.

patch

I neve saw anything download for me either. Is there a date and version you can check in the config file?

Can't get Steam to install the patch

Steam didn't patch on my system too.
It did patch when I reinstalled steam and hl.
The stuttering is 90% gone.

Bye

Maybe the setting that was changed was a minor patch.. and the official (according to Gamespot) could be delayed until next week. Remember, there were 2 or 3 problems associated with stuttering that Valve was working on.. I'm sure that one setting wasn't the fix for all of it.

The patch has been applied. But it was almost "silently".
The login procedure took a little longer than usual that day.

me too. i dont know if steam installed the patch for me either. may be it did because now loading maps is faster than before but the stuttering is still there. so annoying!!!

I read somwhere that valve had confirmed that the patch has been installed if there is this "mat_forcetextureintohardware" command in the console.
