Sorry for posting in wrong thing before.

Ok here is my problem. I installed Half Life 2 the day it came out back in November 2004 sucessfully and i've loved it ever since until recently.

A couple months ago my hard drive failed and I have been playing an old 20gb hd that I had laying around for just such occasion. Then a few weeks ago I spotted this awesome deal on compusa.com for a 250 gb hard drive with 16 mb cache for $70. I got it a few days ago and I have been reinstalling all the games I have been missing.

After a few games I have installed, it's time to install good ole' HL2+Counterstrike: Source. Put CD1 in, click Install HL2, click next, next, next, I agree, next, I agree, next, next, next, then after I go to the DirectX menu it says "You have already installed DirectX 9.0c or you have a later version, installation not required" and click next, there is an installer menu that has a bar on it with 4 bars scrolling to the right that never stop, and above the bars it says Initializing....... After about 6 minutes, an error message comes up that says "The Half-Life 2 installation has been interupted. Please run this installer again to install the game." OK I say to myself. I do all these steps over again and I still get the same message.

I tried installing using different CD-ROM's, my DVD-ROM, my CD-Copier, ect. ect. and even uninstalled steam and reinstalled it and it seems nothing works.:frown:

Please help me! Attached is my dxdiag.

I uninstalled CnC Generals because it has corrupt files and I can't install that either. It will go to the bar where it says how many percent is done and it stays on 0% but when I go to the folder it is installing I see it's size is rising like it is installing normally. Help plz.

well then it's your computer
1. scan for viruses thoroughly
2. try and system restore to a happier time
3. defragment if that doesnt help
4. consider reformatting

If that fails ^^

You could just download steam and download hl2 and cs:s through that...

You don't actually need your cd's

Though it is kinda nice to have them all the same... wallmounted in a frame above my bed.. (kidding)

Do you get any error messages like the '1607 error' when installing something, you can google the error, and it will give you a fix. I had that problem when installing pro evo 5, after i erm bought it.
