Intel Pentium 3
800 Mhz (I think)
384 RAM
ASUS GeForce 4 Ti4200
12 GIG Hard Drive

is that enuf to run half-life 2?

also. what i need.

pentium 4.
or 512 ram.

PLZ HELP ME!

All current specs show yours will run the game just fine at about a mid resolution. more ram might be helpful

thanx!

npted. thx man. so just pretty much those specs wit 512 ram? ight. thx again!

well, that CPU speed leaves alot to be desired

if i were you, i'd upgrade the CPU asap, if you're looking for cheap, i'd suggest an amd barton 2500+, they're about 90 bucks or so

also, if you plan on upgrading your CPU, you'll probably need to upgrade your mobo, and for that, i'd suggest an asus a7n8x-x or a biostar m7ncd pro

oh yeah, if you do decide to upgrade, make sure you have the right kinda of RAM for your mobo

for the barton 2500+ whats the specs? and sorry im dumb but whats a mobo?

motherboard, it's what you plug everything into, hence, the name

the AMD Athlon XP 2500+ is 1.83GHz with a barton core, 333MHz FSB, 512mb L2 cache, in other words, very good, almost doubles the score and power of my P4 1.8 GHz in all tests i've done to compare them

go to newegg.com to check all this stuff out and the prices and such

upgraded

k i upgraded (damn im broke now)

here are specs:

Pentium 3 (Still gathering money to upgrade, thinkin bout the barton 2500+ though, ill look on price watch)
Radeon 9600 256mb GRX Card :cheese:
800 mhz (still :x )
512 ram
and i have no clue what mother board. its an OLD computer.

be4 meh upgrade here were specs:

Pentium 2
16mb GRX card
128 ram
crap motherboard
400 mhz

so with my current specs shuld i be able to run half-life at HIGH res graphics and set it for mid speed?

You just went out and upgraded your computer like that? *snaps fingers*

Graphics settings to the max at a playable framerate requires a 2-3ghz cpu, a 9700pro + and 512MB DDR ram

Your cpu is bottlenecking your gfx card, you'll run it at the lower end of medium settings with a decent framerate

I'm guessing your ram will be PC133 like mine, so that will need upgrading when you get a new mobo and cpu

ugh

so ummm, this means i need a brand spankin new mother board?

*crap*

this sux big tites, i ordered a 2.0 Ghz processer off of newegg.com but i have NO money left to buy a new mother board ;( .

OH CRUEL FATE, I WANT TO BE ABLE TO RUN HL2 AT TOP STANDARDS!

but uhh, seriously.... do i need a new mother board?

sorry for spam

ok. tell me what quality (grx, speed, fps) all together i can run with THESE specs.

first, processer specs:

AMD ATHLON XP 2400 /266 FSB PROCESSOR CPU- OEM
Specifications:
CPU: 2.0 GHz
Type: XP 2400 Thoroughbred
Cache: 256K
BUS: 266MHz
Socket A
OEM (Processor Only)
Model#: AXDA2400DKV3c

rest:
256 mb grx card (Radeon 9600)
512 ram
OLD mobo
2000+ Mhz

its hard to say exactly at what resolution and at wut setting you could run at due to the game not being out with the consumers to compare.

motherboards are only rated up to a certain mhz or ghz and u stating that your mobo is old i would suspect that u need a new one in order to take advantage of your new ram vid card and cpu.

gfx card is good but 256mb with the 9600 might have been overkill and a waste of money(we dont know yet)

your new amd cpu will not run on your older intel mobo u need a amd compatable processor, i would suggest the a7n8x-x, its good and relativly cheap.

and go to sites like www.sharkyextreme.com , www.anandtech.com , www.tomshardware.com to get good info on new hardware info, possible buy or look at computer mags like maximumpc and the like to stay with technology.

do a lot, i mean a lot of reaserch b4 u go out and buy something. u dont need to do spur of the moment stuff here, hl2 is still a lil while away.

naww.... half life is gonna struggle on that 800mhz system, the physics are gonna be demanding on your processor... valve said it will run, have you ever tried running a game on the required specs on the box??? 9 times out of 10 it is completely unplayable.

yea your gonna need a new mobo that supports your processor, try an nforce2 motherboard, dont waste your money on the 256mbs of video memory, you will notice no difference now. go for the 128mbs, also see if you can score a radeon 9500 instead of 9600

Yeah you would need a new mobo, new RAM, that 256mb 9600 isnt so good. Go for the 128mb pro one, or a 9500 pro. And spend $10 more and get the barton 2500+ instead of the 2400.

Vice City runs like a dream on some 500 Mhz computers, just in case you didn't know :)

If I wanted to run HL2 with good graphics and and a nice framerate.

I would get.

Pentium 4 2.6Ghz C FSB - 800Mhz
Abit IC7-G motherboard
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
and lada lada lad

total for this should be in the £500 mark.

I wonder if the system I'm currently on is good enough:
PII 233mhz
128mb ram (w00t!)
Riva 128 4mb

Come on! HL2 will be like a DREAM on this! Damn these new computers! My PSU went *FIZZLE* *CRACKLE* *POP* and started smoking :D

yea and vice city is a ps2 port:cool:

looks like all this craps gone. sides i installed all me new stuff (pff bs) and it ran like a mofo on a stick cuse of mobo.

anyway where can i find all those products

Pentium 4 2.6Ghz C FSB - 800Mhz , ATI Radeon 9700 Pro , Abit IC7-G motherboard

online? ugh damn you half-life 2 and ur awsomeness. whats mid quality? pixilated graphics, snizzily skins, lame map quality? what will change at mid quality.

how much money is that in american? my dads buying this shit and he wont spend alot. i am so screwed.

is more ram essential to run well?? i mean culdent i get by with a good processer and grx card? eeeeee:x

dude, if you're looking for bang for buck, AMD is the way to go, not Intel

i would definitely grab a 2500+ and an Asus A7n8x delux mobo, that's about 200 bucks right there

what you're talking about could easily be 300 or more

also, if you're looking to save a little money on the video card, go with an ATI 9500 or 9500 Pro

anyways, you can find all this stuff at newegg.com

Check out powerleap 370 socket enhancer so you can use 1.4ghz something else besides coppermine core.

You really shouldve researched this shit before you went and bought everything. I assume you bought a 2400 rather than a 2500, because the 2400 clocks in at around 2.1 ghz, and the 2500 clocks in at 1.8. And theres a 5 dollar difference. But the 2500 out performs the 2400. and the 2500 can easily be OCed to a 2800+ by the push of like 6 buttons (arrow keys). Plus you are going to get all of your new stuff, and you are probbably going to try and force an AMD chip into an old P4 mother board and break the chip and ending up buying a new P4 chip so it goes with your p4 mobo and then your mobo wont support the newer chip.

PM me on AIM at ShiftComma3, and i will help you with any problems you have.

Hows my system gonna do, you think?

AMD Athlon 850Mhz
128Mb PC100 SDRAM
GeForce2 MX400 32Mb
MSI MS-6340 KT133 mobo
XP Pro

Daaaammn 128 RAM. Looks like the lowest settings. Should def. just save up and buy a new comp.

With any luck I should get a new rig in September or so.

yes, AMD is better for people on a budget, but if you have money to spare than Intel is what you need. :borg:
