i dont think my steam is updating itself

hey, recently ive been noticing that when new releases come out for steam, it doesnt show the "updating steam platform" progress bar anymore. I think im having some problems that should be fixed with the new updates, but they are still happening, so i think my steam isnt updating. Is there any files i can delete so it can re-update it self or something?

download steaminstall
and install over the same place again
so it will update.
you can also delete clientregistery.blob
but i doubt that it helps

ok i did that, it updated again, hopefully it solved it. i can play the games and everything but errors are coming up that the updates are supposivly fixing, like the %n crash thing. I crash when someone does it still. Is the popup that says "validating your files" an updater? Cuase i get that a lot but i didnt think it was updates.
