After downloading a compatability program, I got it up and running and working perfectly. I'm talking full sound, no lock-ups and a working joystick. The glory days are back my friends, the days of finely orchestrated midi songs and polygonal space ships. Despite its age, the game is still fun as hell. Kind of makes me wish that lucasarts would make a new, revamped TIE Fighter. Too bad though.

You...are the emperors reach.

Link to the compatibility program and post some screenshots while you're at it :)

Download the launchpad file and install it. Then right click Imuse.exe in the Tie directory and select Run with VDMS. Choose the default option and go through the setup. Now go to the Tie exe and run with VDMS. This time choose custom and then go to advanced, followed by the compatability tab. Check the low level CD drivers option near the bottom. If you don't do this right it won't detect the CD and you'll have to reinstall the game. I will post screens tomorrow morning and make any clarifications if I wasn't clear... after all its 4:20 in the morning here :)

Maybe I should install it. I have lots of classic starwars CDs.
Though... maybe I should play Yoda Stories, the demo was addicting... some odd reason, I never figured out why.

I have yoda stories, never could get it working though...

As for the screenshots, I havent figured out a way to take them yet. Fraps and print screen both don't work, but rest assured its working and looks just how I remember it.

I have both Dark Forces 1 & 2, and Tie Fighter. I should install those some time.

Do you think the SLI 7800's could handle Dark Forces? ;)

Which I used to play all the time by the way.

I'm sure I'll have to tone down the graphics a bit, maybe antialiasing to off. But I should be able to get at least 20 FPS :D

yaar!

DF was a lot of fun, I used to type in cheats and zoom around....

larandy.
