I was cleaning my room and found this old metal box.. I looked inside to see what was in it and found some crazy stuff...
Here is a list of what I found:
$13 dollar bills
20-30 $1 dollar coins
20-30 50 cent pieces
12 $2 dollar bills (1 from 1953 and 11 from 1975)
A $1 dollar coin from 1904 that is in MINT condition.. I mean PERFECT.. It is 101 years old.. Insane if you ask me..
And last but not least... The weirdest thing you could imagine.. Are you ready?
Ok
Here it goes:
In a U.S. Mint bag I saw a plastic encasing holding a Gold or Bronze coin.. I take it out and look at it.. and to my amazement, it had a picture of John Wayne on the one side riding a horse and then another facial picture of him on the other side..

I am astonished.. I wonder how much any of that is worth unless it is just face value..

Anyone else find anything like this?

Would you like pics? I can take you some.. I have the time and the technology.

Woah. You know that's worth a lot of money? :O

Oh hey Shamrock. Sorry I don’t have time to read this thread but erm.. I’ve been meaning to ask erm… did I leave a metal box in your room? If you find it can you send it to me?

take some of your face while youre at it so we can make fun of you.

my mom has something like that stashed in our safe desposit box. However, she has been a banker for some 35 years now, so she's sort of a collector of rare and unique coins.

I remember back when I was like, 9, I would go to my friends house, and his parents had a steel box full of really old money just like that. He found the code out (his parents were stupid enough to make it his birthday) and everytime I came over, we'd check out the money, and every so often he'd give me a silver quarter.

It was really cool. They had this silver dollar (not the coin ones. The dollar bills that have the blueish stamp on them) that was a hundred years old I believe, and it felt so smooth, like cotton. I felt like to could just gently pull on the ends, and it would rip in two. It was so delicate. I was just so amazed by all the awesome money before me!

Oh, and I have a 1920 penny that says one cent on the back. Can't seem to find it atm but it's cool.

We have the technology and the money...but we don't want to spend a lot of it

And after searching through to find the coins, I noticed a bunch of quarters at least 35 of them.. I didn't bother to pay attention to them since I thought they were just normal quarters.. Then I looked at them and saw they were Bicentennial quarters. I am having a good day today. :)

Sorry it took so long.. Imageshack.us was taking a while to load my pictures.

That money belongs to Will Smith. I'm going to tell him that you were stalking him again.

Also my congratulations on your find.

Wow, awesome. My aunt once gave me a book with the value you'd get on old coins, with descriptions of how to tell the condition of them. I don't have it with me, so I can't look them up.

The John Wayne coin is pretty neat.

why dont you keep them?
maybe it will last in your generation
or keep them to sell them when is necesary

They havent just appeared all over your room have they. I mean they are in rolls, bags and some laminated, so they belong to someone in your house or wherever you live. For example i found alot of old english money in bags etc, some ancient mexican coin from like 1800 or something ridiculous, but they were my dads, but he kept them secret from me when i was younger. Moral, before you go selling stuff, make sure you know who's it is!

Those last "wierd" ones are Susan B. Anthony dollar coins. I had some at one point...

I remember back in 5th grade. My friend's mom told him to go to the grocery store to exchange coins for dollars. He used the wrong coins! I don't know what kind of coins, but he sure did get an ass kicking. LOL.

His mom smacked him in front of me, I bailed... then she mad him run after me to say sorry that she had done that in front of me.

That could've been SBA coins. Everybody hated them because they were too much like quarters, but I thought they we're pretty cool...

Very nice. I used to be a numismatic once, before I discovered the computer and all its wonders, of course.

Tip: Save them, don't sell them. You'll regret it otherwise.

I like that John Wayne coin. It's cool and all, but don't think it's worth much.

Snd me sum k? bff?

Keep them in as good a condition as you can, even fairly old ones. I've got a couple of coins from 1808-ish (can barely make out the last digit), and I thought "wewt, dollars for meeee!" but after researching it's only very fine or mint condition coins of that nature that were worth anything.

So if you keep the relatively new coins in good nick hopefully you'll have something to pass on to your next of kin that'll be worth something!

I need to get my coin collection valued, I've got shitloads of them! A lot of them are from foreign countries that my grandad got during WWII (loads from the 19th and early 20th century), and I haven't been able to put a conservative estimate on them. So I may have a billion pounds in my cupboard!!!111 Or not.....

yea my dad has like 3 or for metal boxes full of coins and such from like 1900s and before. He has so much its rediculous.

I doubt that.. :)

I'm going to save these coins for now I suppose.. No need to try and figure out how much they are worth and then finding out they are worth nothing at this very moment.
