Bioshock doesn't work on my comp.

The furthest I got to was Fort Frolic or something similar to that name. After that, it crashes. So I restarted, and it crashes randomly and often. Blue screens, illegal operations, etc.

2x 7950 gx2 cards (quad SLi) is the only thing I can think of that would make it crash like this.

I'm a little pissed and got a bad taste in my mouth.

Wow that really sucks, man.

How would quad SLI cards affect its performance? Could it be a driver update thats needed? Try looking at the website for troubleshooting (and to see whether it is in fact compatible with your GFX card).

Dont give up yet!

Thanks for the link.
I found a thread entirely dedicated to people who purchased it thru Steam and cannot continue fort frolic. Problem is, there is no fix what so ever.

The fact that you're not alone in having this particular issue means that they WILL fix it soon though.

your best bet is to mail me your video cards so i can look at them

and send me Bioshock, that I may inspect it for problems

better yet, just give us your credit card numbers, address, and a list of fears

Ah new technologies, and their drunk drivers :flame:

I had some of the problems your having the way i fixed it is.

1. Video Drivers need to be uninstalled then install the beta bioshock drivers
2. Sound card drivers even for on board its a must
3. Don't create a lot of new saves. Go to your save folder and only leave the last 4 saves don't make any more then that.

Try that.

What a suck game. Uninstalled and re-installed. Now it sucks even more with the new Bioshock drivers. I get more lock-ups, blue screens, and weird errors that turn my desktop black and white and remove my shortcut icons.

Go eat a dick PC developers. Where's my support and patch?

Drivers.... I know your going to say its up to date. my advice is,reformat with clean installation of XP or vista...etc then try to update the drivers.

plus, there is something you are not doing in the correct order. remember to use cleaning programs to clean your reg, temp...etc

1-driver cleaners,
2-ccleaner,
3-tweakxp.com and tweakvista.com
4-...can't think of any now,

My install of windows is pretty close to virgin and Bioshock is still highly unstable. I suspect it's an overheating problem (for me anyway).

Got IT !

:naughty: Bioshock Works after TWO days of settings change and roaming the internet

its pretty not obvious, but you might wanna try this to get bioshock working ! (stop freezing all the time)

goto configscreen, programs/software, click in the left bar on (bottom) turn on/off windowsprogramms and:

disable functions for tablet PC ! press ok and

reboot, and play ! :D

(excuse for faulty naming but you will figure it out :D )(im dutch)

(system: vista x86)

---update---

after a nice piece of action, the freezes are starting again :( so, im gonna give up soon too :( what a bunch o cr*p !

K, there is still no update/patch.

TF2 is still in the Beta stages. How many patches/updates have been given so far?

Even before they touched the beta with a single patch, it ran so much better than Bioshock.

Valve > 2kGames

well, got it running smoothly after a reinstall, and reinstalled directx and visual 2005 C++

This is on my Intel machine,

but it still won't run on my AMD machine, where its suppost to be running

I'll try setting my CPU FSB to DDR2 1:1 in the morning, this with the AMD timing patch, and will also try it without the patch, maybe thats where it all goes wrong.. i can't figure it out

:(

Look at it from the bright side: You won't be experiencing horrible mouse lag on a game that reeks of console-port.

Sucks to be you then, Nemesis. Whilst your twiddling your thumbs and racking your brains on how to grasp a simple control method, I'm using mine to play one of the best games of the year! :D

Too bad, heh.

Let me elaborate a little. Nothing says "console-port" more than the melee combat in the game. That's the first indication. The second is the mouse aiming - it's like they just put in a mouse emulator for a system based on joypads for looking - It's that bad. What happens is: One moves the mouse slowly, the first centimeter works well, then it skips two. Repeat process and you have a problem so annoying that the demo turned me off. Throw in the fact that this problem cannot be fixed, and ta-daa: You have Bioshock for the PC.

If they're gonna make a game for the PC, at least make it so that you don't have to aim in the approximate direction of the enemy, and then strafe untill the enemy is in your sights. This is just lame.

Imagine how much better it would be if it was ported first to the PC, and then everything else later?
