The mountain in question

The journey was long, arduous and full of loose rock that crumbles beneath your feet. The total ascent was about 2500 ft I believe. It was also extremely cold and windy up at the top which made for some more added misery.

This is looking South West with a bit of the antenna cluster on the right side. If you look carefully you can see a cluster of vehicles where we eventually walked to to get a ride down.

General direction is south, taken from the antenna array part

I wanted to hotlink them all and stretch out the forum a lot but I didn't want my site to serve up 27 mb of images each time someone loaded the page D:

I'd love to just spontaneously climb a mountain.

When driving past one, I'd just like to leap out the car and run as fast as I can to the peak.

Does anyone else get this overwhelming urge? Has anyone ever followed through?

it always looks a lot easier from the bottom :p

I did it a couple of times in Greece, but they weren't very big mountains. When the family would stop to get food and take a piss at tiny roadside cafes in the mountains, I'd try and climb the nearest high ground (usually about ten or twenty minutes up, and great views).

Man, I think I drove past that mountain once. It looks so familiar.

I live in florida now. The closest thing to a mountain here is a 4 degree incline.

No... I'm serious. I've driven through New Mexico before, several times. I think I've been past that mountain. :|

it's on interstate 25 (largest one in NM that goes North south) so you probably did.

It's in the middle of the state :)

There's not one mountain where I live. :| I'm jealous!

I used to live in Vermont though! Mountain state, mmmmm

I used to live by those, but then I moved away to the desert because I'm an idiot :(

Nice, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado & Utah have some of the best mountains.

I've climbed all over and fished around this bad boy

I have, actually, since I've spent my fair share of time in the Appalachians. The southwest is excellent for camping/hiking though. I've gone on a few trips out there, been through Zion, Capitol Reef, Bryce, Yellowstone, Grand Teutons, Flaming Gorge, etc, and it was beautiful :D

you need to get out more pitz D:

I'm not sure if I could handle living on the plains anymore tbh D:

I climbed a mountain out in colorado, twice. Climbed it once 5 years ago, stopped where I thought was the top... then I went back last year, and found out that there was still about 700 feet to go up. -_-
