I kind of get it, though your chart really is very confusing :p I'll probably try one later.

Yea.. Your chart goes from artist>genre>artist>genre what's that about?

I understand it some; I assume that listening to one artist opened up listening to a new genre? Is that what the artist/genre switching around means?

wow are you guys really that stupid?

it's obviously a flowchart of influences contributing to discovering and eventually liking new music

I don't understand at all.

Theres like words about bands and music and shit, and like arrows point to other shit that might be related, who knows? Oh god some words have multiple arrows, like all this shit is connected because like... the flow chart!!!! But it still seems rather intuitive.

"Jazz fusion," eh? Ever listen to Herbie Hancock's "Head Hunters" album?

My bad, I never bothered documenting the flow of my musical interests and artists over the years.

Just seems kind of pointless and "who cares", especially when it's as messy and undecipherable as the OP example.

Good job proffesor. The fact of the matter is that it's hard as balls to read. I can't tell whether his artists are influencing his genres or genres influencing artist or both or find any consistency that will give me any indication of any concrete ideas he's putting out.

yes because it was so obvious with out an explanation. congratulations for figuring it out.

I don't think we're stupid, as much as we just don't give a shit about a flow chart that is difficult to read, and about a topic (someone else's personal music taste) that we don't care about.

I found it very easy to read/understand, myself, though how did The Mars Volta sway you towards ambient? :P

its a little bit of both. its like i listened to the band before i discovered the genre (like with the floyd, who i always thought was just classic rock. couldntve been more wrong) and in other instances its the other way around. and i dont understand what the confusion is either,

ive got 2 or 3 headhunters/herbie hancock albums and they're ok. i like the harder jazz fusion (ie: more organ and guitar, less funky bass).

the mars volta do have a few ambient pieces i like (son et luminere/the end of miranda).
