So I installed AIM. I did it to talk to my platoon who are still overseas. When i installed AIM, it caused my WINAMP to not play music, my connection to show as "connection to sever unknown", and steam games crashing on startup. Its caused a REAL big problem.

So winamp is fixed, and so is the connection to server thing, but steam games are still broke. It only seems to be the Multiplayer games at that. The single player games work.

So what happens is, I click the game. The box pops up saying "Starting Game..." then I am hit with "HL2.exe has caused an error."

I hate AIM!!!!

I was reading where AIM can cause a lot of problems. I didnt believe it till I read a lot of forum posts about it on various sites. It seems AIM can somtimes change settings in Vista.. I had to go through a whole lot to correct what AIM did to my Vista.

AIM ****ed up my laptop badly enough that the OS wouldn't start, therefore it will never exist on any computer I own ever again. Get Pidgin instead, it works great with most chat accounts incl. AIM, Yahoo, ICQ, whatever.

GET IT HERE

Are there different versions for Vista and XP?

Anyway, I've used 100's of different versions of aim and thank goodness it hasn't caused any issues like this.
