i'm a civil engineer but we have a class about legislation in our field.

as far as i understand law is crucial for having a civilized society, but damn...i can't believe how much vague crap these people (layers, politicians,...) spew out.

at first it seems everything is strictly controlled but on the other hand a manipulative person can easily change the mening, because it's so vague.

it really feels like these laws are made from people without any kind of knowledge.

i realize bureaucracy is important, but damn they like to exaggerate, what do you think?

yep.

We need more judges like judge judy (honestly) to take care of a lot of these 'loop holes'. Like case she had were an ebay scammer sold a phone to a mom for $250, but on the ebay page it said, "you're paying for a picture of the phone."

Judge judy laughed in her face, called her all sorts of names, told her she was a scammer and made her pay for the phones + other stuff. Even though it was a legit sale, since the buyer got what the seller said she was selling...it was clearly a scam attempt and I'm glad it didn't get tangled up in any bullshit technicalities.

Lol, too bad Judge Judy isn't legit enough that you could actually use that case as a precedent.

Lol i'm a law student. I walked into the children's court for research a couple of days ago, and one of the state lawyers said "quick! Here comes a law student! Use big words!" ...****in brilliant, most of them are relaxed as before procedures, but the terminology is neccessary. Hell, i could write you an essay about it's neccessity.

edit: but i wont :p

People,
We didn't choose to be bureaucrats
No that's what our mighty Ja made us
We treat people like swine and make them stand in line
Even if nobody paid us

They say the world looks down on the bureaucrats
They say we're anal, compulsive and wierd
But when push comes to shove you gotta do what you love
Even if it's not a good idea

You think it's bad for civil engineers? Do you have any idea what people working with cloning or transgenics have to go through? :O

I think everyone should stfu and go protest, but not on my internets.

Laws are made vague so the bureacracy can decide how to enforce the law. You don't want precise laws on education or the environment made by lawyers do you?

All forms of government are broken systems that fail on some level, it's unavoidable.

Incorrect. You're confusing statute law and common law.

Statute laws are made by the governing body for a neccessary means to an end.
Laws are made vague so the bureacracy can decide how to enforce the law.
After the second reading of a bill, it is debated, discussed and debated again and parts of it are changed. This changing of the bill could even mean changing "can't" to a "cannot". The process of making a statute law is deliberately pedantic so no loopholes can be seen when revised by the judiciary.

Common laws are made by judges/magistrates/presidents of the judicary when it is neccessary to make an interpretation of statute law in a common case. This interpretation is made by the judicary and then documented and recorded and then made into common law. However, if there are two conflicts between statute law and common law, statute law will prevail. This is because statute law is made by representatives of the people and is made by a forming process of the government.
